    UPDATE 1-Tequila maker Becle's profit shrinks on slowing liquor consumption

    Mexico's Becle, the world's largest tequila producer, on Wednesday posted a 18% fall in first-quarter net profit from a year earlier, still landing above analyst forecasts, as it sold fewer alcoholic drinks and was hit by foreign exchange effects. Becle said sales in North America were further hit by the strong Mexican peso, which strengthened 8% against the U.S. dollar by the end of March, diluting income from abroad.

    Senior admin. for Dolton, Thornton Twp. arraigned in federal court

    Keith Freeman, a senior administrator for both the village of Dolton and Thornton Township was arraigned in federal court Wednesday on charges of engaging in a bankruptcy fraud scheme.
