John Hawkins doesn't know squat, if Tiger doesn't win 8 tournaments then it's.....boring.

The grooves are a start but they need to change the ball, or reduce club head size. There is no need for anyone to hit drives 340 yard drives, play on 7200 yard course`s. It is crazy how much money has been spent to lengthen once great golf courses.

I think we have seen some pretty good golf this season. The problem seems to be with the announcers constantly telling us how crappy everyone but Tiger is. Good announcers should be able to make any tournament sound interesting instead of being so negative all the time. You can't blame Tiger for any of this and they should be preparing for the day he's no longer playing. It's like they put all their eggs in one basket and can't think beyond it.

I have not found the season to be boring, some tournaments yes. The Travelers to me was boring just to name one.

To all you so called sportswriters that jumped on the bandwagon when Tiger Woods came along , GO F%#@ YOURSELVES ! Tiger doesn't win as much as he used to because these younger golfers aren't afraid of him . They want a piece of him . When Woods first came out he won alot of tournaments because the third round leaders would throw up all over their shoes on Sunday. If he wins now he will have to play his best . And if you think I'm full of crap go back and check the stats for the early part of his career So all you pretend " golf fans " out there get used to it . It's the PGA , not the TWA .

    John C,
Miller always has been the worst of them all. No matter what the other guys are talking about he has to get Tigers name in there. I once said if I were Tiger coming out of the shower, I'd be looking around for Miller. The way he carries on isn't normal. I'm sure if Tiger's sitting at home watching a tournament and hears Johnny he wants to throw up too.

This year has been a good yaer for golf, just not a good year for familiar names, which we get reminded of everytime somone new is playing well. Yes, (insert name) is playing well, and his game is much improved. he has a 2 shot lead and there are three guys chasing him (insert names here), all putting pressure on him, but lets look ahead to Tiger's game next week when he plays. Now, (insert name), is really in trouble here, he drove into this deep rough, and not even Tiger could get out of this stuff. Wow, what a beautiful shot (insert name) hit, its on the green, and he has a shot at birdie. Unbelievable, yes, he must have had a lot better lie than I thought. this is the problem with golf, if the big name players aren't there, then they have to talk about them. maybe they are blowing off the next great player, but they can't make golf exciting unless Tiger is playing. Or Phil, Garcia, etc. i watched some great golf this year and watched guys blow leads, then ocme back. i saw some great closing rounds, and some real bogus shots (no, not Tiger pressure since he was not there. ), just pressure to win. Great golf is great golf, even if you don't know their name. i sometimes quit watching some of them because I get tired of hearing about guys who aren't even playing.

48 year old Kenny Perry wins and it's ho hum. Hardly, some real nice golf he is playing. Kenny Perry leading on FED X points. Another ho hum. Were this what's his name, big headlines and excitement. Give me a break. Been some excellent golf this year and some exciting tournaments. Just because it's not what's his name it's a ho hum year, hardly.

The value of this season , and the sport, should be based on the entire PGA Tour, not just one golfer who plays in 15 of 33 events. There are a lot of casual fans who only pay attention to the guy in the red Nike shirt. Certainly, he is great, but there are other very good players on tour.
Like other sports, golf in the next couple of years will feel the bite of the economy with sponsors (2010 will be the primary year, although some sponsors have not re-signed for certain tournaments). The LPGA is hurting badly, and there are some very good players there. Some of the problems on the PGA Tour have to do with the top players skipping certain events. Purses have decreased, also. Fans who follow golf know how talented Anthony Kim, Lucas Glover, Pat Perez, and others are. Although Mr. Woods will get the most attention, the announcers on TV should help promote the tour (it would definitely help to sustain their ratings, and their existence).

I am a somewhat knowledgable golf fan. Was an 8 handicapper at my best when I was younger. I have found this season one of the most fun and entertaining in recent years. I have loved watching Kenny Perry come close and lose with great dignity at The Masters; and watching him win fairly easily last week. Though Lucas Glover wasn't flashy, his win at the U.S. Open was impressive, particularly on the back 9 on Sunday. Unlike most commentators I have read in the last week, I see Glover having one or two more majors in him. Anthony Kim is a remarkable talent. When, not if, he gains consistency he will be the closest thing to Tiger we will see among current young players. Phil and Amy have added a very personal and poignant element to this years golf season. His run in the U.S. Open was inspiring. And Tigers return from his injury has been fascinating to watch. The criticism of him has been ludicrous. All he has done in his seven stroke play tournaments is win twice, with five other top tens. That is a string of 13 straight top tens including the six. previous to his surgery. That string is only matched by Byron Nelson and Jack Nicklaus. So let's enjoy this season for what it is, a unique snapshot of golf in 2009.

A lot of people won't give them a chance, so they don't watch or go to the tournaments.
