The Clown's Mouth: Does Monty belong in the Hall of Fame?

• Does Colin Montgomerie belong in the Hall of Fame? I say no ... if only because it'll be great watching him turn horrifically red-faced and blow up every year his name isn't called. [The Golf Channel]

• Here's one award Tiger Woods won't be getting this year: Comeback Player of the Year. The PGA Tour has decided that nobody is worthy of the award this year, and so for the first time since 1991 won't be handing out the award. [Golf Digest]

• Anybody remember The Big Easy? Ernie Els had a lovely ace in Shanghai, and was the third wheel in the Tiger-Phil brawl. Could he too be up for a big 2010 as a result of his play in Asia? [The Golf Blog]

• Bo Bae Song knocked off Lorena Ochoa, Brittany Lang and Hee Young Park en route to notching her first LPGA win at the Mizuno Classic. [PGA.com]

• A measure of sympathy for Doug Barron, who's likely to only be famous in golf for being the first guy nabbed for a drug violation. [Armchair Golf]

• In praise of Dave Stockton, who may have singlehandedly saved the 2010 golf season thanks to the lessons he gave prized pupil Phil Mickelson. [Waggle Room]

    What, is this April Fools Day?????????????? The PGA has decided that 'nobody' deserves the 'Comeback Player of The Year' award!! I guess Tger being off for 8 mos. after complete knee recontructive surgery and wipes out the other PGA players is not worthy???? April fools.

    Monte is one of the best golfers the past 20 years and his record proves it... If a major is whats missing from his acceptance then borrow one from Curtis or Lawrie.... Because if they are deserving major champions then Monte is a shoe in for the Hall.... Class act and the best player to ever come out of Europe.... Give him his due folks.....

    You HONESTLY think he is the Best player to come out of Europe? Sure hes good, but best? not in my book. My top 3 would all be close; Langer, Faldo and Ballesterios,. (4 olazabal )... would Take them any day over Monty... ( iI do however like your point about majors, heck Todd Hamilton should be on your list too,) But No way is Monty better over Harry Vardon or Either Tom Morris,(sr. or Jr.) quite the statement to say EVER, but to each his own, (would love to make a wadger with you though)

    Monty will never make it into the World Golf Hall of Fame! No majors won plus the US does not fancy him at all. The Hall is designated for a true sportsman with class, integrity and love for the game. Monty does not possess any of these qualities. He is a total ass and a major underachiever!

    I assumed that Steve Stricker would get Comeback Player of the Year, as he seems to be the choice every season.
