Welcome to Teeing Off, where Yahoo! Sports golf editor Michael Arkush and Devil Ball Golf editor Jay Busbee take one topic and spray it all over the course. Today's topic: are we entering the post-Tiger era?
Arkush: I won't exactly go that far, but I do believe we have seen the best of Mr. Woods. He will never win three majors again in a season, as he did in 2000, and he won't dominate the way he did in 2006 and 2007. Will he win his share of tournaments, even majors? No doubt. But the quest to surpass Nicklaus will not be as automatic as we once assumed, and catching Sam Snead in total tour victories (82) will also take longer than we expected, if it happens at all. Tiger is only 33, but he is an old 33 in golf terms considering the wear and tear on his body. One other factor: The young players starting to make their mark comprise a more talented generation than the one Tiger has consistently outdueled.
Busbee: There are two ways to look at Tiger's come-from-behind win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and subsequent misfires. He's either the greatest golfer who ever lived but he's still getting readjusted to having spent eight months off the course, or his best days are behind him, and the big wins are going to be fewer and farther between. I tend to hew to the former, until we know differently. Something's not right with Tiger's swing, and whether that's from too much coaching, too little coaching, too much thinking, too little thinking, too much time off -- you get the idea. We just don't know. You make a great point about the heat being applied to Tiger from the next generation, but I'm reserving judgment as to whether he's ready to be pushed offstage. Ark, what do you think the point is where we can definitively say his best days are behind him?
Arkush: We have reached that point. Again, that is not to suggest that he still won't be the best player in the game for another half-decade or so; none of the other usual suspects (Anthony Kim, Rory McIlroy, Camilo Villegas, etc.) impress me as someone with the staying power to take over his throne. The fact that he won't be as dominant as he was from 1999 to 2008 only illustrated how incredible he was during that period. He set a standard which may never be equaled by anyone ever again.
Busbee: Amen to that. If this is indeed Tiger's point of decline -- and it's going to come sometime, whether it's now or in 2048 -- well, it's time to enjoy every round he plays, no matter how well or poorly he measures up. I get the feeling that when he's done, he's going to be done-done. No Champions Tour, no Willie Mays-in-a-Mets-uni embarrassing himself. Still, I'm not ready to call Time of Death on Tiger's career just yet. I want to see how well he plays when he's got the knee-surgery cobwebs cleared out once and for all.
All right, your turn. Are Tiger's best days behind him? Have your say.

I see Tigers problem at this time being his bigger upper body that seems to have changed his swing and that he is not 100% confident with his 'new' knee, and of course his driver turning on him.
I would like to see him go back to the stinger because most all drives with it were in the fairway.
As bad as be played this past weekend, and Sunday playing very kwappy, to still finishing 8th says a lot.
Tiger is not done and will get better.
The Great Jack said it took him 7 or 8 tournaments to get his game and confidence back after knee surgery and he was out for only 17 days. Not 8 months.
That is my view and I am sticking to it. lol

The Chiefs? That's the same kind of crazy talk as the Ducks...lol
I don't know if it annoys Tiger because Tiger and Sir Charles are friends, and the may have been taped when Tiger was off for his 8 months. But who knows for sure.
I like to see the Chiefs win, just not when the play the Chargers. :)
