Devil Ball Golf - Golf

Before Thursday, you knew Paul Goydos as the man that came ohsoclose to beating Sergio Garcia at the Players Championship in 2008. Now, you'll know him as another member of The 59 Club.

That happened at the John Deere Classic, where Goydos went out in 31, and then made eight birdies and one par on his back nine — including three straight birdies to close — to be the fourth person to shoot a 59 in a PGA Tour event, and the first to do it on a course that wasn't a par 72.

Maybe the most impressive thing about his 12-under round was how many putts he had to make from distance. Six of his birdies were outside of 12 feet, including a bomb from nearly 40 feet on the par-4 11th.

After the round, Goydos said his birdie putt on the 18th was the most nervous he's ever been in his life, short of becoming a father.

For one of the most well liked and respected golfers on tour, this has to be a dream come true.

Goydos joins Al Geiberger in 1977, Chip Beck in 1991 and David Duval in 1999 as the only men to ever break 60 on the PGA Tour.
