Devil Ball Golf - Golf

This is impressive. During Saturday's third round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational, PGA players and fans alike held a "Pink Out" designed to show support for Amy Mickelson and the fight against breast cancer. Further proof that when the PGA is pulling in one direction, this is a hell of a fine sport.

Now, as for the fashion choices, well -- the call is yours. But David Feherty (top left) and Ian Poulter (top right) look quite comfortable indeed in their cotton candy ensembles, while Vijay Singh, Brian Davis, Justin Leonard and eventual champ Steve Stricker opt for the more sedate but no less welcome approach.

While I agree that this was a very fine gesture for the PGA to administer, I am saddened that it takes a player's wife contracting the disease before they do it. Thousands upon thousands of people who don't have a name large enough for national recognition have been diagnosed with, killed by, or survived this disease, but because some one relatively famous contracts it that means we all need to take notice?

No, my friend, I will not "get over my act" because I it is extremely hypocritical for professional athletes to support a cause all of a sudden just because they know some one. These people have the ability to get on television and make a real difference and they have numerous chances throughout the year to do so. Do they take these chances? No! Not until one person that they know happens to contract it. Of course there are a few rare exceptions in some individuals, but the whole tour? Never. Major League Baseball does something great every year and uses pink bats to bring awareness. Not because somebody affiliated with the organization has the disease but because its the right thing to do. I even said in my first comment that it is a great gesture, but I just feel it is a little hypocritical.
Also, I'm not using the "better late than never act"; you are the person saying better late than never so get your comments straight before you want to berate someone.

Where did this breast cancer thingy come from and how long has it been around? I had never heard of this disease before Amy Mickelson.

Since you know what is funny Chargers, I will tell you what is not funny, and what is actually very, very sad, and that is that you actually believed what I wrote in post #4. The fact that you could not pick up the OBVIOUS sarcasm is far from funny, very sad, and extremely disturbing. You are about as sharp as a bowling ball.

Was not 'obvious' to me because of some of your past post that make you out to be a fool. You only post the most negative things you can think up. That is sad.
Also who cares if Steve wears pink this week, does not make it 'hypocritical' he may have someone close with or has had breast cancer, then too he Never said anything about Amy M. and he could also, should he wear pink, be trying to 'Emphasize' his 'Apology' to Phil & Amy for what he regrets saying about Phil.
You nor I can tell for sure without getting into his mind.

Chargers, I obviously touched a nerve with you the other week when I mentioned that you hijacked a golf thread as you have made mention of this close to 10 times. Even in this thread you are 5 of the first 12 posts, so i think my statement was a correct one. I am still trying to figure out what is most pathetic about you.
    1) Your sensitivity and the fact that have made mention of this so many times today or
    2) The fact that you keep spelling it highjack. Get a freaking clue! It is spelled " Hijack. There is no 'gh" in the word, " hijack ". The word is hijack! I would even accept hi-jack. But hiGHjack is wrong!
Get over it, get yourself a tissue and stop your crying already.

Make that 5 now, and 3 are having to respond to your whining and moaning. Yet, you now have 6, and not one of them makes any sense or adds anything to this topic.
I won't respond to you on any more blogs unless it is at the end of something that i wish to add that is relevant to the topic. You have made it easy for me because your lack of insight, common sense or ability to detect sarcasm is a delight for me to attack.
Do yourself a favour and leave your house every now and then, and try and make a real friend. Or as I suggested previously, have someone show you how to use msn or yahoo messenger, and discuss the minutae of your day with people over there. And please, make at least one of your 20 posts per blog about the topic at hand. Stick to golf, your obsession with me is almost as sad as you are.
I hope that I did not hurt your feelings again.
P.S. if you think Williams regrets saying what he did about Phil them you are even more naive than i first thought. he regrets that it was made public. He regrets nothing of what he said about Phil. He regrets getting caught saying it.
Now as for you, I am done replying to you. I will post about the blog itselff, and sit back and watch you sniffle and cry about how the big bad man hurting your feelings. Sweet dreams Princess.

Wow did we forget the cause hear. Are ya'll so wrapped up in each other we missed the point of what the PGA did, the timing of it shouldn't matter, but the fact that they did something is awesome. As someone whose mother drives everyday to the doctor to get her breast cancer treated, it never hits home until someone in the family is hit with it. Someone in the PGA tour's family has been with it and has been put on notice rather quickly.

My husband and I have been to many golf tournaments. The players wives are and have always been big supporters in the fight against breast cancer. I found it touching that so many came together to show their support for Amy Mickelson who has been a big supporter of Breast Cancer Awarness. Should we care when they show support for a disease that kill thousands of people? We should be aware that they have people talking about breast cancer!!!

Most people don't become enthusiastic advocates for a particular cause unless it affects them personally. When it hits at home, then they care deeply. Any loss of loved ones is devastating. We should care about every loss.
