Luke Donald confirms he’s going to fight for the money titleWell, it appears Luke Donald has every intention of fighting Webb Simpson for the top spot on the PGA Tour's Money List.

With Simpson only $68,971 behind Donald on the Money List and playing well at the McGladrey Classic, it seems very likely the current No.1 will fall to second on the Money List by the end of the week.

Donald had been contemplating adding the final tour event of the season if Simpson passed him, but it wasn't until Friday afternoon that we got our official answer, as Donald took to Twitter to confirm he'll be playing at Disney.

"There was never really a decision to be made," Donald tweeted, "I have a chance of making history. See you all at Disney next week #bringiton."

With Donald in the field, you now have to wonder if Simpson will throw his name in as well. Based on Donald's stellar record all season -- he failed to crack the top-20 just two times this season -- it's almost a foregone conclusion that the Englishman will show up with his game intact.

Unless Simpson wins, sitting out the final event would be a huge gamble on his part. Donald is already taking a huge gamble by even playing next week. His wife, Diane, is currently pregnant with their second child, and is due to give birth in two weeks.

Luke should have time to play and get back home to Chicago, but there's one other problem: He doesn't have a caddie. His caddie, John McLaren, got married this weekend, meaning Donald will have to scramble to find a loop for Disney.

Donald had played eight of the past 10 weeks before taking this one off, so the decision to log another four rounds is pretty impressive. But with the tour's Money List on the line -- and the chance for Donald to become the first player to win the European and PGA Tour Money Titles in the same season -- the chance at history made the decision a no-brainer.

The ball's now in Simpson's court. If he does decide to play, we could have one heck of a head-to-head battle at Disney.
