Okay, that's not quite true. There are plenty of reasons why Love didn't make the field. But as the AP's Doug Ferguson notes, it all came down to a single shot that Perez hit on the 18th at Bay Hill on Sunday. On his approach to the 18th green, Perez just barely cleared the rocks that would have otherwise claimed his ball and destroyed his score. But Perez was able to record a bogey and move up to 48th in the Official World Golf Rankings. (Perez was already eligible for the Masters.)
That move bounced Love out of the top 50 by four-hundredths of a point. Ouch. On the bright side, though, Prayad Marksaeng made the field after having to withdraw because of injury last year, and like fellow last-minute qualifiers Mathew Goggin and Louis Oosthuizen, will be making his first Masters appearance.
Geoff Shackelford has advised against using the OWGR as a barometer, but what other options are there? Cage match? Hottest wife/girlfriend? Have your say.
