As we enter the heart of the holiday season, let's take one last look back at the best of the 2009 season, a time before we knew what the heck an "Uchitel" was, a time when only your dog was obsessed with fire hydrants. We'll pick out the best tournaments of the season, and we start with one of the best LPGA finishes of the decade.
Coming into the Kraft Nabisco, Brittany Lincicome was one of the many with that "never won a major" anchor around her neck. And when she entered the final round two strokes off the lead, it didn't look likely that she'd be breaking the streak. But she ran down her best friend Kristy McPherson and Cristie Kerr with a three-under-par performance, capped by this shot for the ages. (The only video available is in Spanish, which should say something about the LPGA's online video presence.)
Si, senora, indeed. Lincicome capped the win with the traditional leap into Poppy's Pond, which is either the coolest or the dorkiest tradition in golf, I haven't decided which. Still, it was a beauty of a shot, and a well-deserved first major for Lincicome.
