On the Hoof: A very tall, yet lean and muscular body structure similar to a hybrid outside linebacker/weakside defensive end. On the hoof he is similar to Anthony Barr, just a tad smaller.
Needs Improvement: Smith must improve his lower-body strength and flexibility, because his legs will be the target most defenders aim for at the next level. This should also improve his strength in breaking out of ankle and shoestring tackles.
Most Impressive: Has very good vision and the speed to run away from linebackers once he breaks past the line of scrimmage. Smith also possesses soft hands, which will just add another weapon to his offensive arsenal.
Conclusion: Already has the size to put a hurting on college defenses, but is he ready for the pounding he will take at the next level? He should remind most Big Ten fans of a young Eddie George, and hopefully have a similar impact.
