Scouting Report on Amarlo Herrera

On the Hoof: Very wide shoulders with long arms. Herrera also possesses a thick, muscular torso and a dense powerbase.
Needs Improvement: He is a bit stiff in the hips and this hurts his ability to cover backs running deeper routes. Herrera will need to do a better job of reading run/pass quicker because he has a tendency to bite on the play-action pass.
Most Impressive: A downhill player with the instincts to hit the gap and make plays in the backfield. He is a big, physical specimen and a heavy hitter. Herrera excels as a blitzer and could cause passing game coordinators some serious headaches.
Conclusion: Has the size and tenacity to compete for some playing time early. If he can pick up the defensive scheme, expect him to be an impact freshman. Look for Herrera to be a headhunter on special teams.
