Florida head coach Will Muschamp was asked if redshirt sophomore linebacker Dee Finley had officially decided to transfer from the program on the Wednesday morning SEC coaches teleconference.
Muschamp said Finley approached him about transferring but nothing is official yet. The two will meet soon to discuss his future.
"I told him he needed to take a little bit of time to think about what he wanted to do," Muschamp said.
-- Muschamp said a decision has not been made as to which true freshman quarterback will get the start this week against Auburn. Asked if there will be a weekly quarterback competition, Muschamp said he would rather one emerge as the best option.
"I'd love for one of them to step forward and be the guy," Muschamp said.
-- When a team's playing poorly, sometimes changes have to be made, but UF's lack of depth could keep personnel changes from being made. Muschamp said the lack of competition at certain positions hasn't been good for the team because players play better when they're being pushed for their position.
"We don't have people lurking over your shoulder trying to take your position at some spots," Muschamp said.
-- Muschamp said he was disappointed with how the Gators responded psychologically when John Brantley had to leave the Alabama game with an injury.
