Brescia were relegated to Serie B following a 3-0 defeat at the Franchi stadium against Fiorentina on the final day of the season. The hosts managed to avoid relegation as a result of their win. Fabrizio Miccoli converted a penalty-kick on the stroke of half-time to put Fiorentina in front, then second-half goals by Martin Jorgensen and Christian Rigan sealed Brescia's defeat. Midfielder Omar Milanetto was sent off in the 89th minute for using foul language to referee Pierluigi Collina. Despite a late run of positive results, Brescia's season ended in disappointment after five seasons in the top flight, the most successful era in the club's history. |
