Next Match: away to Murcia, May 18 Barcelona's disappointing season took another turn for the worse last weekend, when the Catalans threw away a two goal lead and eventually lost at home to Mallorca. Barcelona remains in third spot, but is level on points with fourth-placed Atletico Madrid and must beat Murcia on Saturday night to be guaranteed of finishing third. The Catalan giants sit just three points clear of fifth-placed Sevilla, but cannot be caught by the Andalusians, thanks to a superior head-to-head record in the matches played between the two sides this season. Deco, Rafa Marquez and Gianluca Zambrotta are doubtful for Saturday's game, while Ronaldinho, Gabi Milito, Yaya Toure, Sylvinho and Albert Jorquera are all definitely sidelined. Edmilson is suspended. The match against Murcia is coach Frank Rijkaard's last in charge after five years at the club. He will be replaced in the summer by Josep Guardiola. |
