Atletico Madrid remains in fourth place in the Primera Liga, but could yet be caught by Racing Santander and Sevilla. Coach Javier Aguirre will apparently have his contract renewed if Atletico qualify for Europe, but reports in Spain claim the Mexican will be off at the end of the campaign, especially if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League. Atletico faces Espanyol on Thursday night, before hosting Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday and traveling to Valencia on the last day of the season. Simao Sabrosa and Jose Antonio Reyes could both return from injury against the Galicians, but are unlikely to face Espanyol. Thiago Motta remains sidelined and is unlikely to play again this season.
