Next Match: away to Nurnberg, May 17 It has rarely been anything but eventful at Schalke this season. From a historic first ever Champions League quarter-final, to the sacking of coach Mirko Slomka and another fight for Champions League football, their fans have had plenty to think about. Temporary coach Mike Buskens has ensured that there will be Champions League involvement for next season and there is still plenty to play for. Heading into the final fixture, defeat for Werder Bremen coupled with a win at Nurnberg, would see them qualify for the Champions League automatically, leaving new coach Fred Rutten in a good position for next term. There is no doubt in the mind of general manager Andreas Muller that they can do it. He said: "As long as we believe we can do it, we can." |
