Preseason Ranks: Top 40

Rubberband Man, that's at least in part due to the fact that the entire first round is pretty much spent on high profile wide outs or running back: yesterday in a Live Draft I grabbed Larry Fitzgerald with the 9th pick of the first round and Randy Moss with the 2nd pick of Round 2 (two of the top receivers in the NFL). I had hoped to get Brady in the 3rd, but he got pulled off either in the late second as you said or even the early third. I "settled" instead for Aaron Rodgers. I have to like his 2-to-1 (or .998) TD to INT ratio last year in his first full season as Packers QB.

As a fantasy rookie, I drafted Tom Brady in the first round and Randy Moss later on (it was Moss's first year in NE, so he came cheap). Rode that tandem all the way to a FF Championship. Brady may or may not be "God's gift to fantasy football," but he's pretty close.

JuBu... you forget that Tom Brady's "wonder season" was also his first year having Randy Moss and Wes Welker, who are two of the top 10 or 15 wide receivers in the NFL. Did you miss what Matt Cassel did after Brady got injured? Brady will at least do better than that, and what Cassel did was really good, both in the NFL and for fantasy. Great receivers can make an average quarterback good and a good quarterback great, IMO.

Why is Brady so low????? I have an autographed jock strap of his hanging on my moms refrigerator and i smell it before every game because he is just so fantastic.

its funny that some people would waste a first round pick on him when almost every draft i am in has him falling to late 2nd round. you people need to stop bringing your real life fanatic crap to fantasy, just because the guy is your cheating savior doesnt mean he is gods gift to fantasy football.

Now i am going back to watching these fat girls tan by the pool because i love meat.

Only 1 person put him in his top 40, so that would be clown not clowns!!!! You need to go back and retake 5th grade English grammar. Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Nope!!!!!!

Man do you not realize they rank these players as a guide and not the end all for how the season will play out. Use this list to aid you in drafting your team, but do not follow it because depending on league scoring, your draft strategy, and how dumb the people are in your league. I feel like some people need a disclaimer before they view this list.

Behrens really is clueless, he looks about 12 and has McNabb above Rivers and Ryan Grant not even in his top 40. Mark my words Grant is one of the few rb's not in an RBBC and plays for a top 10 if not top 5 offense. He has Chris Johnson 7 and Frank Gore 16, how did he survive the final cut, I just don't get it. Basically I just look at what Funston does and go by that.

How do we go about getting these guys in our league? It'd be like stealing candy from babies...LOL.

What about Kurt Warner - I mean come on .... not in the top 40. His receivers are in your top 40. As a great philosopjer once said, "Please child!".

How can I sign up to be a FFB analyst? All you bums do is take last year's final stats and tweak them some. Have any of you ever gone back to see how far off your preseason stats are from the actual end-of-season stats? The preseason rankings are usually good for a laugh come December, but you keep dishing out the same formulated BS every year. This list is for newbies, who don't know any better.

i don't get it...how can you guys proclaim this player's gonna do this, or that player's gonna have such and such a year when you all know this is a game where turf-toe can put a man on the sideline for weeks...Just watch the game, stats, and tally up the points when the time comes. Game over!

Pierre Thomas and Ronnie Brown inside the top 20. That's funny. You guys never learn on a continual disappointment and then knee jerk on a one year wonder.

Matt Ryan will have the best season of all QB's and he's nowhere to be seen. I trust these rankings as far as I can throw them. BTW, when did Matt Forte become such a stud? Last year this guy was practically unknown.

I had holmes last year and I drafted him again this year. How could you not with the post season he had. He will be a top 10 receiver this year.

Yeah fan boys this is fantasy. Guys like Tom Brady are good QB's you want on your team but not so much on your fantasy team. Take out Brady's wonder year and his fantasy stats suck. A repeat coming off an injury doesn't seem likely. Also not being able to cheat as much might hurt a little too.

The guy was a top 10, if not 5 pick going into last year.

His knee looks to be 100% healthy, he's got the same great team (and WR's back), and he's one of the biggest work horses in the league.

I'll be laughing all the way to the bank taking my boy in the 1st rd over one year wonders Forte, Turner, Slaton etc.

Big Ben nor Santonio Holmes should warrant a top 40 pick, if you owned Holmes last year, i'm sure you'd stay well away from him this season.

Turner has the biggest bust potential of the first round, too much of an increase in work load.
