Looks and Touches: Week 12

The following is a list of the Week 12 leaders in looks and touches. It defines those running backs and receivers who received the most attention this past weekend.

Touches is defined as the number of times a running back carried or caught the football.
 Looks is defined as the number of times a player was the intended target of a pass.
 

Touches
• Poor Justin Fargas. He logged 25 touches and a season-high 115 yards during the most prolific scoring week in the history of the NFL, but isn’t involved in any of the Raiders’ three short-yardage touchdowns, which coincidentally were part of the team’s season-high 31 points. He’s the lone player in the league with at least 150 touches (151) but no scores, and he’s one of just three players with at least 100 touches but no scores (the others being Fred Taylor and Ray Rice)

The lowest touches-per-TD rates for players with at least 100 touches: LenDale White (11.6 – 127/11), Maurice Jones-Drew (14.4 – 158/11), and Tim Hightower (14.4 – 130/9).

• The platoon watch notes when a team’s RB2 is given at least half as many touches as the RB1, regardless of the reason. Platoon watch for Week 12 included: Baltimore (Le’Ron McClain 18, Ray Rice 11), Cleveland (Jamal Lewis 12, Jerome Harrison 8), Houston (Steve Slaton 21, Ahman Green 14), Indianapolis (Joseph Addai 23, Dominic Rhodes 12), Jacksonville (Maurice Jones-Drew 12, Fred Taylor 7), Kansas City (Larry Johnson 9, Jamaal Charles 5), Miami (Ronnie Brown 11, Ricky Williams 8), Minnesota (Adrian Peterson 17, Chester Taylor 11), New England (Kevin Faulk 14, Sammy Morris 10), Pittsburgh (Mewelde Moore 19, Willie Parker 14), St. Louis (Antonio Pittman 12, Kenneth Darby 10) and Tampa Bay (Warrick Dunn 19, Carnell Williams 16).

• Yards-per-touch leaders for Week 12 (minimum 10 touches) included: Maurice Jones-Drew (9.75, 12 for 117), Kevin Faulk (7.5, 14 for 105), and Fred Jackson (6.91, 11 for 76). The bottom three: Antonio Pittman (1.58, 12 for 19), Carnell Williams (1.69, 16 for 27) and Tim Hightower (1.91, 11 for 21).

Looks
• Anquan Boldin has been absolutely massive for fantasy owners over the past five weeks, averaging 13.2 looks, 9.2 catches, 102.6 yards and 1.2 TD. On the season, he’s second in the league in looks per game (11.2), behind only Brandon Marshall (12.3).

• Notable names not among the Week 12 looks leaders: Bernard Berrian (2), Plaxico Burress (1), Marques Colston (1), Matt Forte (3), Frank Gore (3), Vincent Jackson (2), Antwaan Randle El (2), Bobby Wade (2), Hines Ward (3) and Reggie Wayne (3).

• Top 10 players in catch percentage (minimum 4 looks per game): Maurice Jones-Drew (91%, 40/44), Marion Barber (84%, 46/55), Matt Forte (82%, 45/55), Marshawn Lynch (81%, 42/52), Kevin Faulk (80%, 36/45), Wes Welker (78%, 81/104), Josh Reed (78%, 31/40), Billy Miller (76%, 32/42), Bo Scaife (76%, 47/62) and Reggie Bush (75%, 42/56).

• Bottom 10 players in catch percentage (minimum 4 looks per game): Marty Booker (26%, 11/42), Justin McCareins (38%, 18/48), Braylon Edwards (40%, 40/101), Justin Gage (42%, 22/52), Mark Clayton (43%, 23/54), Dane Looker (44%, 14/32), L.J. Smith (46%, 19/41), Javon Walker (47%, 15/32), Koren Robinson (48%, 20/42) and Roy Williams (48%, 26/54).
