The following is a list of the Week 9 leaders in looks and touches. It defines those running backs and receivers who received the most attention this past weekend.

Touches is defined as the number of times a running back carried or caught the football.
Looks is defined as the number of times a player was the intended target of a pass.

TOUCHES

  • Chester Taylor and Steven Jackson finished at the top of the touches leaderboard for Week 9 thanks largely to their activity in their teams' passing games. Taylor had a season-high eight catches on nine looks, while Jackson recorded a whopping 13 catches on 14 looks. This isn't an entirely new development, however. Taylor is fifth among running backs in receptions (32) and fourth in overall touches (205), while Jackson is second in both categories (41 receptions, 211 touches). Jackson led all players with 219 yards of offense (86 rushing, 133 receiving) in Week 9, while Taylor finished sixth with 141 (96 rushing, 45 receiving).

  • Ronnie Brown had season-highs in touches (31), carries (29), rushing yards (157), and total offense (190 yards) in Week 9 versus the Bears. Brown has totaled 439 yards of offense (343 rushing, 96 receiving) on 73 touches (66 carries, seven catches) over his past three games – during the first five games of the season, Brown had 431 yards (278 rushing, 153 receiving) on 105 touches (85 carries, 20 catches).

  • The platoon watch notes when a team's RB2 is given at least half as many touches as the RB1, regardless of the reason. Platoon watch for Week 9 included: Green Bay (Ahman Green 24, Noah Herron 12), Jacksonville (Fred Taylor 13, Maurice Jones-Drew 10), New Orleans (Deuce McAllister 17, Reggie Bush 15), New England (Laurence Maroney 14, Corey Dillon 14), and Tampa Bay (Carnell Williams 13, Michael Pittman 7).

  • LaDainian Tomlinson led all players with at least 10 in yards per touch. Tomlinson totaled 192 yards (172 rushing, 20 receiving) on his 21 touches (18 carries, three catches), good for a 9.14-yard average. Reggie Bush was on the low end in Week 9, as he managed just 17 yards (-5 rushing, 22 receiving) on 15 touches (11 carries, four receptions).

    LOOKS

  • Donald Driver's season-high 17 looks marked the fifth time in eight games that he's been targeted more than 10 times this season. He's had at least eight looks in all but one game this season, his 86 looks-to-date rank third overall, and his 50 receptions are fourth in the league.

  • Kellen Winslow's 13 looks in Week 9 were a season high and the second consecutive week that he's been in double digits. Winslow's 65 looks are 16th in the league, and tops among tight ends, and his 51 receptions are third in the league.

  • Steven Jackson's big receiving day came at the expense of Torry Holt. He was targeted a season-low five times and managed just three receptions for 50 yards. After being targeted at least 12 times in each of the season's first four games, Holt has been in single digits in three of the past four games.
