Fantasy Basketball Deep League Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 10

In deeper fantasy basketball leagues, finding useful players on the waiver wire can be a very difficult task. With most popular free agent choices already owned, owners of deeper leagues often have to dig at even less popular names for fantasy production. Here's a look at five players owned in less than 10% of Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Basketball leagues* who are worth adding in Week 10.

PF Taj Gibson, Chicago Bulls (8% owned*)

Statistics (per game averages*): 19:15 MPG, .502 FG%, .575 FT%, 0.0 3PTM, 7.3 PTS, 4.6 REB, 0.6 AST, 0.5 ST, 1.3 BLK, 1.0 TO

As a key backup to Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah, Gibson has always been a key contributor for the Bulls. Whether it's for rebounding, steals, or blocks, Gibson's activity can provide some nice stats for fantasy owners looking for more help in these categories from their power forwards and centers. In the month of February, Gibson averaged 5.5 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, and 0.7 steals a game.

SG/SF Matt Barnes, Los Angeles Lakers (7% owned)

Statistics: 21:34 MPG, .440 FG%, .776 FT%, 0.4 3PTM, 7.0 PTS, 4.9 REB, 1.6 AST, 0.7 ST, 0.7 BLK, 1.2 TO

Valued by the Lakers for his defense, Barnes has found his successful spot coming off the bench after being in the starting lineup for the early part of the season. Averaging nearly a steal a game in February and seeing a nice increase in rebounding, Barnes can also be depended on six to eight points a game.

PF/C Patrick Patterson, Houston Rockets (3% owned)

Statistics: 22:12 MPG, .472 FG%, .562 FT%, 0.0 3PTM, 7.3 PTS, 4.2 REB, 0.6 AST, 0.4 ST, 0.4 BLK, 0.5 TO

For most of the season, Patterson has battled with Samuel Dalembert and Jordan Hill for playing time. Hill has been out with a strained right knee since mid-February, giving Patterson about 25 minutes a game for the Rockets. In that playing time, he has proven to be a capable post scorer and decent rebounder that would fit well for fantasy teams in deeper leagues needing depth at Patterson's positions.

SG/SF Martell Webster, Minnesota Timberwolves (2% owned)

Statistics: 18:26 MPG, .417 FG%, .704 FT%, 0.6 3PTM, 6.1 PTS, 2.3 REB, 0.4 AST, 0.7 ST, 0.4 BLK, 0.7 TO

While his recent play on the court has been overshadowed by his mental mistake against the Denver Nuggets, Webster has seen an increase in playing time which is resulting in better numbers. Over the past two weeks, Webster is averaging over 22 minutes, recording 7.9 points, 0.6 steals, and 0.6 blocks a game. With Michael Beasley likely on his way out before the trade deadline, Webster's recent increase in minutes should stay constant.

PF Brandan Wright, Dallas Mavericks (1% owned)

Statistics: 13:09 MPG, .594 FG%, .658 FT%, 0.0 3PTM, 5.8 PTS, 2.6 REB, 0.3 AST, 0.4 ST, 1.2 BLK, 0.5 TO

While Dirk Nowitzki's back injury is not too much of a concern for the Mavericks, backup power forward Wright could stand to gain from this concern. With Nowitzki playing only 10 minutes against the Memphis Grizzlies on February 29, Wright stepped in and played 21 minutes, recording eight points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. With a big jump in playing time from January to February, Wright is quickly becoming a more viable fantasy option in deeper leagues.
