Most-Added Fantasy Baseball Batters from Week 1, Apr. 2 to Apr. 8: Fan’s Review
While trades are a great way to acquire the best players for your fantasy baseball team, the waiver wire and free agent pool are also a great source for finding key contributors and players that will help your team win on a weekly basis. From players currently on a hot streak to players expected to breakout or produce in a new situation, here are the most-added batters from Week 1 of the 2012 fantasy baseball season.
Since named the starting shortstop for the Red Sox, Aviles has been coveted by fantasy owners, particularly those participating in daily leagues, for his multiple-position eligibility in the infield.
Tuesday, Apr. 3: 2B/3B/SS Mike Aviles, Boston Red Sox, 2,038 adds
In a somewhat surprising move by the Giants, the team has elected to have Belt serve as the team's Opening Day first baseman and move Aubrey Huff to left field. A young hitter who was moved from the majors and minors multiple times last season, Belt's early distinction as the team's starting first baseman could make him a huge breakout candidate this year.
Other top adds of the day: Mike Aviles (3,788 adds), Ryan Raburn (3,428 adds), Detroit Tigers OF Delmon Young (2,911 adds)
On Opening Night and the lone game on April 4, Furcal had a fast start to the season with three hits, one RBI, and a stolen base. Despite struggling in spring, Furcal has starting off strong and will look to keep hold of his coveted leadoff hitter spot on the Cardinals.
Friday, Apr. 6: SS Rafael Furcal, St. Louis Cardinals, 7,007 adds
Saturday, Apr. 7: SS Rafael Furcal, St. Louis Cardinals, 11,496 adds
Despite a weaker showing on April 7 with only one hit, Furcal's start to the season has many fantasy owners adding the veteran shortstop in hopes of him returning to his healthy form from his days as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Sunday, Apr. 8: 3B Chone Figgins, Seattle Mariners, 21,330 adds
Unable to produce during the Mariners' first two games in Japan, Figgins copied the effort put up by Furcal with back-to-back three-hit games, including a game where he was a home run shy of the cycle. A .188 hitter last season, Figgins would be a great fantasy pickup if he could bring his numbers up to anywhere near his days with the Los Angeles Angels.
