One of the owners in our 14 team ROTO keeper league on ESPN has left and I am looking for an active and knowledgeable replacement. We keep 8 players year to year, pretty standard stats, you can see the league settings here
The team that needs replacement finished 3rd last year and has the 12th pick in the draft. The link to the actual team is below
Please let me know if you are interested in taking over this team.
Hey got my keeper draft coming up soon and wondering which one of the three I should choose:
Couture, Backstrom or Hall
stats are G,A,Pts, +/-, Pim, Sog
Stack up on goalies because of the scoring categories. That leaves you with 4 with Malkin and Karlsson are guarantees. IMO, I would keep Eberle and Palat. My reasoning is that you will always be able to draft good D's in mid to later rounds. Obviously, they wont be Weber or Subban but you can grab guys that will get you 30+ points, PIMS or PPP. I have had a lot of success keeping as many forwards or goalies (depending on categories) or D and grabbing them in the draft.
I am in a H2H 12-team keeper league with a roster of 23 and I can keep 7 keepers.
3C, 3LW, 3RW, 4D, 2G and rest are bench
Scoring Categories: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SHP, SOG,
W, GA, SV, SA, SV%, SHO
My potential keepers:
Evgeni Malkin Pit - C,RW
Erik Karlsson Ott - D
Jordan Eberle Edm - RW
Dustin Byfuglien Wpg - RW,D
Brent Burns SJ - RW,D
Henrik Sedin Van - C
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Edm - C
Ondrej Palat TB - LW
Sami Vatanen Anh - D
Mark Stone Ott - RW
Alexander Semin Mon - LW,RW
Pekka Rinne Nsh - G
Devan Dubnyk Min - G
Jaroslav Halak NYI - G
My thoughts: Malkin, Karlsson, Rinne, Halak, Dubnyk, Burns and Eberle.
As 6 out of 13 scoring categories are for goalie, I am inclined to keep 3 goalies so I don't have to worry about drafting one in the first couple of rounds. Also, is Eberle the best 7th pick? H. Sedin is 35. Mark Stone and Palat are pretty good and young.
Please provide suggestions to better my keeper selection. Appreciate your comments.
Agree goalies are a coin flip, bot the same.
Depending on your scoring stats, if you have FW, then Toews would be the top spot for that. Think Giroux and Voracek, and Getz, and maybe Keith if you need some assists. McKin has to prove himself, or take him if you think he will bounce back, and Pac is too injury prone
Yeah Tavares was a given as keeper #1, then was mostly unsure between one of the rookies, one of the D, and the goalies. Like the idea of Monahan putting up good FW, and think Forsberg and Gaudreau will essentially have the same totals. Agree on the D point, that they should be about the same, but the dual position for Burns might win over, just wasn't sure on Yandle since everything I see has his stats projected high. And in goal, I dealt with the rotation last year in Ana, so might go the route of consistency in Halak.
Thanks for all the info. I appreciate it. Idk exactly how many teams there will be but not many at all because we are all just starting out with hockey. Going to say 10 max probably. Everything else is standard default settings.
You want players that will get you value across all cats - guys like Backes for example, have very sneaky value as they score across all cats. Also, if you're playing in a H2H league, dual-eligibility for players gives you added value to rotate through (Malkin and Giroux for example are C/RW eligible).
Tavares, Monahan, Halak, Burns based on your league's scoring cats...this give's you a great core to build around.
You need a decent goalie in a 14-team league and with the Islanders on the up, Halak will post very nice numbers this year (plus he has ZERO competition). Tavares is a given. With FW, centers have more value in your league and I like Monahan as he'll get you 30 goals and a nice amount of FW. For HITS/BLKS you need a D...and I would personally lean towards Burns over Weber although this one is close, but Weber is facing deeper competition with both Jossi and Jones on the upswing and Burns is really the only option for SJS and he's dual eligible which is a big plus in H2H leagues.
Need help selecting my 4 keepers in the 14-team H2H league I am in. I have narrowed it down to:
Tavares (C), Forsberg (C, RW), Gaudreau (LW), Monahan (C), Burns (RW, D), Weber (D), Yandle (D), Halak (G), Andersen (G)
Scoring: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, FW, HIT, BLK; W, GAA, SV%, SHO
Ideally usually keep a goalie, D, and 2 forwards, but wasn't sure if I should go with both goalies or which one to pick, which D I should pick, and which rookie I should stick with.
The stats are:
Shots on goal
What do you think?
I wouldn't reach for a goalie first round, but it is important to get reliable options at that position very early. Assuming a standard league, goaltending categories account for 4 out of 10, and you only have 2-3 players driving them. Therefore, it is particularly important your 2-3 players at the position are solid. You will find that during the year many great options at the forward position emerge, so forwards are generally my lowest priority.
Looks like drafting for the future.....words that come to mind are prospect, potential, high draft picks.
If Dynasty leagues are roto, depending on how many active slots you play, you're going to find it difficult to get points, PIMs, PPP, hits, blocks along with the goalie stats.....going to be a trying upcoming season.
You have too many Ds......8 out of 23 is way too many.....you only have 4 LWs.
....and there'll be another wave of hype for the next big generational player next year.
I would have gone for a little less youth and perhaps a couple more late 20s players.......
