Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
10 team, H-H Dynasty (5th season)
Standard Yahoo rosters/scoring
I've finished 4th, 6th, 2nd, and 8th last season.... I've made some horrible trades and add/drops. I've also been killed by injuries the past few years. Last year I went in as the favorite. Injuries got me and a couple of bad early season trades did me in. What can I do to this roster to ensure I make the playoffs and get back on track?
I have the #3 waiver to start the season. All FAs and rookies go on waivers. The waiver order is based on the final standings.
Who should I plan on dropping?
Do I stick with Hibbert and Ilyasova, or do I move on?
Time to get rid of Amir Johnson? He's been right at the 100 rank for the past few years (dropped Jordan instead him last year), but hasn't taken a jump. His coach isn't helping either.
Depth has always been king for me. Should I look to get more top heavy with stars and load up on potential young guys with the back end roster spots?
My roster -
Mike Conley (Mem - PG)
Jrue Holliday (NO - PG)
Kyrie Irving (Cle - PG)
Ty Lawson (Den - PG)
Derrick Rose (Chi - PG)
Tyreke Evans(NO - SG,SF)
Paul George(Ind - SG,SF)
Kawhi Leonard(SA - SG,SF)
Danilo Gallinari (Den - SF)
Rudy Gay (Sac - SF,PF)
Ersan Ilyasova (Mil - SF,PF)
Derrick Favors (Uta - PF,C)
John Henson (Mil - PF,C)
Al Horford (Atl - PF,C)
Amir Johnson (Tor - PF,C)
Paul Milsap (Atl - PF,C)
Roy Hibbert (Ind - C)
Brook Lopez (Bkn - C)
I'm thinking about dropping Johnson and Ilyasova for some top rookies. I might try to do a 2 for 1 to free up roster space then grab a guy like Vonleh or Embid.
Here are some of my mistakes... Dealt Curry for Irving. Lillard for Evans. Teague for Ilyasova. Had an extra 4th round pick in the original draft. Was trying to decide from Wall, Love, Gallinari, or Westbrook. Took Gallinari.... Oops!
10 team, H-H League
5 Keepers per team
3PTM, 3PT%, PTS, REB, AST, ST, BLK
Interesting cats, no doubt. I took over this team with about 1 month left in the regular season. Went into full tank mode, acquiring as many keeper potential guys I could. I landed the top pick in the draft and 9 top 50 guys in ESPNs early ranking list. Now I have to figure out who to keep.
My options -
With the custom scoring guys like Vucevic and Lopez don't hold keeper value. However, guys like Anderson jump into the keeper list. I don't really envision too many teams passing on Lopez/Vucevic as keepers if they had them. So, I can look to do some 2 or 3 for 1s. A few owners with only 3 or 4 options.
Guy with Paul George only has 4 keepers
Guy with James Harden only has 3 keepers
Guy with Stephen Curry only has 3, maybe 4, keepers
Obviously, guys with high value in standard leagues, that shoot a lot of 3PTs are kings. Curry was easily the #1 player last year. Big men that hit 3 PTs (Bosh, Milsap, Love) are all big players too.
My best guys right now are Lowry, Milsap, Batum, and Bledsoe. I can look to deal any and all of the guys after them. Would Leonard/Horford be enough to get any of these guys? Or Leonard/Horford/Bledsoe?
Any ideas or thoughts would be much appreciated... Thanks.
A week ago, I would say Randle. But with the Lakers adding Boozer, Davis, & Kelly, his impact takes a bit of a hit. Besides the obvious (Wiggins, Parker), Nerlens Noel may win the ROY despite being drafted last year. Sleeper late round value: Kyle Anderson & TJ Warren.
not sure if my first reply posted properly. The best sites are rotoworld and basketballmonster. they may not have their 2014-15 rankings up yet. they should be available in about a month
You picked the wrong Magic rookie, Elfrid Payton will be the more impactful rookie. Julius Randle in LA is a safe bet as is Jabari Parker. I like McBuckets as a sleeper for ROY if Thibs will give him a chance.
Wow, didn't expect a response this time of the year, but thanks. I would totally agree with you about Josh Smith, except this league, as stated, is a no %'s league. We count FGM and FTM instead so Smith has much different value here. Also, I would think that with Van Gundy at the helm, Smith could very well be out of Detroit by the trade deadline. SVG LOVES to spread the floor with 3 ball threats all over the place, and if Drummond and Monroe are both sticking around they will really need other 3 point shooters to compliment them, and even though Smith can hit the 3, he's definitely not what Van Gundy is looking for. If Smith gets traded his value will likely go up, or if Monroe signs an offer sheet somewhere else and the Pistons don't match it, Smith's value will go up too.
I'd still be up for trading him for a PG with similar value, but just for different reasons.
I would look to move JSmoove, his %'s are trash and hes in a log jam in DET. You could really upgrade your PG/SG position with a trade.
I like Gordon too, so I hope you're right, but I don't think he'll have a huge impact this season. Magic just signed Channing Frye today, and he will likely start at PF, which means Gordon is going to fight for bench minutes with guys like Tobias Harris, Andrew Nicholson, and Moe Harkless.. I'm going to go after rookies that have a clearer path to big minutes like Jabrari Parker, Julius Randle, or Elfrid Payton
