    Cheating Commisioner

    by Scott Aug 24, 2014 8:09 PM

Yahoo will ONLY intervene in public leagues. If this is a private league, your pretty much screwed as they won't touch it. Not sure about pro leagues - I reside in one of the few states that is probibited from those leagues. Use the 'help' icon at the very bottom of the page to search solutions & you can send a 'problem' to Yahoo administrators - give them a day or two to reply - but they will get back to you. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies! In a public league - this scenario could not happen, however because it is a private league, the 'commissioner' has administrative rights to pretty much do what ever they want - without recourse. It can be quite frustrating to have no alternative options.

  • can someone tell me why? I didn't play a bunch of positions the other day and my totals the next day were the same only the pitching changed
    thanks

  • Vogelsong was credited with a complete game against the Cubs. In fact it was a suspended game which he lost. I expect to see stat correction on Monday.

Veto means the league veto's the trade. There is no talk about why it would be good for two teams when set amount of teams vetoed the vote.

  • Tim Dugan - He runs many leagues, and is making a profit off cheating the people who join.
    So far he has:
-Trade blocked the second place team behind him from making trades.
    - He has colluded with one other player in the league with him acquiring big names for scrubs
    - He has frozen me from posting in in the league.

This is is a $100 buy-in league. I honestly think he has a mental disorder. Please be warned of this Tim guy.

Also does anyone know if yahoo steps in in these situations?

Do a yearly move limit or keep players on continous waivers. otherwise FAAB is worthless.

  • - 3 man NA slots for rookies
    - will not be a rookie draft though
    - keep ALL players
    - short bench making your starting lineup more important, plenty of IR spots though to save players who are hurt.

let me know if interested chisox214 yahoo please also tell me a little bit about your fantasy experience.

    Starting Line-ups

    by grumpy Aug 24, 2014 2:09 PM

It was messed up today. My roster said Mauer and Beltre both with an 'x' which means they are sitting. I took them out. Now I find both are starting/playing and NOT in my lineup.

  • 5x5 league standard format with 16 teams. shallow benches. Greinke is the best pitcher on the team. We keep any 6 every year and there is draft pick trading. The league is free, but everyone is active just about every day and we have a strict inactivity policy. The league is in its fourth year. The manager of this team was already replaced once this year and the second manager has been a disappointment as far as keeping up with the team. The team could use some maintenance, but has some upside with Joey Gallo occupying the NA spot. Other potential keepers are J Zimm, CarGo, Utley, Kalhoun, Perkins, Yan Gomes.

If interested, let me know at jonwalt at optonline dot net. Looking for someone with serious long term interests in building a competitive keeper team.

. I run 2 leagues. Each league has a 'Three-Day Rule'. A player must appear on a team's roster for 3 days before he can be dropped. A player added to a team on Monday, as an example, must appear on the Tues Wed Thurs rosters. Player could be dropped on Thursday as player will not appear on Friday's roster. I've been using this system for 5 yrs and it works fine although I have to manually keep an eye on the transactions list. If a mgr 'forgets or loses track, ha ha, the player dropped too soon is reinstated to the roster and that player's 3 days starts over and 2 moves are deducted from the team as a penalty. I have suggested to Yahoo that a system be implemented as an option for League Commissioners whereas a Commish could choose how many days a player must appear on a roster before that player could be dropped. I never got a reply tho I wasn't really expecting one as I've come to believe that the Yahoo Fantasy Sports peeps only specialize in reading comic books and blowing bubble gum.

As a Commish, I won't overturn a veto. But I request that folks explain why they vetoed the trade and let those involved campaign for and explain the trade. But I can't force them to. That's only fair. Then The two managers put it up for another vote. A commissioner shouldn't wield enough power to change the game but should command enough respect be allowed to mediate disputes. But in my mind a veto is only used to stop cheaters and collusion.

As a respected commissioner I allow both sides to present their cases for a trade that is vetoed by the league. If both sides present valid and thoughtful reasoning behind each of their reasons for doing the trade and my #$%$ alarm doesn't go off (and being former military and now police I have a very very keen #$%$ alarm) I allow the trade to go through. I don't believe the league should have final say in a trade veto as there is a lot of unwarranted reasons that people veto that are not always fair to the trading partners. I allow the trade veto option for the other owners to speak their minds and then the trading partners must convince me as commissioner why the trade should be allowed to go through, About 75% of league vetoes have remained vetoed through my commissioner review process. And yes I make sure that this practice is clearly posted and known before the season starts and draft occurs and folks who do not agree with this are free to pursue other leagues but I must say it has been well received and works wonderfully.

Or didn't know what the IP limit is

  • I just noticed this as well. It is very annoying.
Does anyone know when it will be changed???

  • Does the commissioner in a private league have the authority to reinstate a vetoed trade of the league default settings? I know Yahoo will not intervene - but what recourse does an owner have when a league commish puts through a trade that was vetoed by the league required rules? #dirtycommish
