Tough call, IMO. JVR side touches on all categories, and JVR/Schwartz can only get better. Zuc is a wildcard for me. Backstrom side holds more current value, but is really assist heavy. I'd go with the Backstrom side in a dynasty league. Rather have the for sure value in a dynasty league, than hoping for future potential to pan out. Not talking about JVR, mainly Schwartz and Zuc.
Where will the other team's first round pick land in the draft and what type of player are you looking at in that position? Unless it's a top-30 player, I wouldn't do it. Kane is going to be an elite scorer for years and years to come playing in Chicago.
20-Team H2H Dynasty League. Scoring cats are G ,A, +/-, PIM, SOG, Hits, Special Teams Pts.
Here's the trade:
JVR/J. Schwartz/Zuccarello for Backstrom/Vanek/M. Johansson (Wsh)
Depends on how many keepers each team gets and what type of player you could get in the first round, but I'd almost certainly say no.
Hall's definitely a stud, but Kane's one of the elite, right up there with Crosby, Ovie, Tavares and Malkin. And he has far more support in Chicago than Hall does, so his numbers will benefit and his plus minus isn't going to suck.
Here are my draft results
1. (8) Patrick Kane (Chi - C,RW)
2. (13) Corey Perry (Anh - RW)
3. (28) Erik Karlsson (Ott - D)
4. (33) James Neal (Pit - LW,RW)
5. (48) Roberto Luongo (Van - G)
6. (53) Joe Thornton (SJ - C)
7. (68) Cam Ward (Car - G)
8. (73) Drew Doughty (LA - D)
9. (88) James van Riemsdyk (Tor - LW)
10. (93) Blake Wheeler (Wpg - RW)
11. (108) Brad Richards (NYR - C,LW)
12. (113) Brad Marchand (Bos - LW)
13. (128) Mike Richards (LA - C,LW)
14. (133) Scott Hartnell (Phi - LW)
15. (148) James Reimer (Tor - G)
16. (153) Ryan Callahan (NYR - RW)
17. (168) Dan Hamhuis (Van - D)
18. (173) Cam Fowler (Anh - D)
The guy took Jeff Carter in the 8th round 75th overall. After this draft I really liked the 8th overall pick but I remember I was hoping to nab Kessel with the pick but he was chosen right before I took P.Kane, like I said I love how my team turned out and its one of my favorite and one of the best I've had. I only have one lose in H2H this season and it was in week one and then in week 4 I had a tie and the rest of the weeks its been wins against the guy I been going against week after week.
I'm really happy with my team I think its my favourite team I've ever had in the 7 years I've been doing fantasy hockey pools, I play every season with only one team so this is my only team. Its H2H league 10 teams we count Players: G A PTS PIM PPP HITS SOG +/- Goalies: W SV% GAA SO
I'm in first place with a record of 130-54-20 280 points, 24 points ahead of the guy in second. The roster:
Joe Thornton - C
Brad Richards - C, LW
James van Riemsdyk - LW
James Neal - LW, RW
Corey Perry - RW
Patrick Kane - C, RW
Erik Karlsson - D
Drew Doughty - D
Torey Krug - D
Cam Fowler - D
Ryan Johansen C, RW
Jaden Schwartz C, LW
T.J. Oshie C, RW
Blake Wheeler RW
Scott Hartnell LW
IR Valtteri Filppula C, LW
Roberto Luongo - G
Ben Bishop - G
Anton Khudobin - G
BIGGEST SURPRISES: I knew JVR was going to have a good season so I'm not surprised there, I didn't think Fowler was going to be that good this season and by the start of the season I had no idea who Krug was. I'm really surprised by how quickly Johansen has adjusted into the NHL and how well he is playing this season I'm so happy I picked him up off waivers same with Schwartz, Oshie, Filppula, and Khudobin. I defiantly struck gold when grabbing them off waivers. But my biggest steal in the waiver wire by far has been Ben Bishop! Probably my MVP of my team also its between Bishop, P.Kane, C.Perry, and Karlsson.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENTS!: I would say no one to be honest with you if I had to choose probably B.Richards I thought he was going to have a year like he did in 2009-2010. I also wish I drafted Jeff Carter, I was so close of getting him, also disappointed I drafted Cam Ward so early.
He was originally credited with the 2nd goal, but it has since been changed to Hartnell.
They haven't changed the GWG point yet though, which needs to be done.
Ive got solid goaltending, Rask and Quick- and with such quality goalies I kinda felt like having 3 sort of watered down their stats. I ended up with the players from A, it was the combo of 2 trades.
Looking at Bulldozier1963's mid-season review post gave me the idea for this. We're slightly past the mid-way point of the season. How are your teams faring in general? How's your best team doing (and who is on it's roster)? Who have been the biggest surprises and disappointments (for your teams specifically or in general)? What would you have done differently in the draft if you could?
I'll start it off. Of the 6 teams I started the season with, I'm in 1st place in three, 2nd in two and 3rd in one.
My team with the best record in head to head is 100-30-10, with 210 total points I'm 30 points clear of 2nd place. The roster:
Crosby, Thornton, Couture
Hartnell, Kunitz, Zetterberg
Vrbata, Simmonds, Pavelski
Yandle, Karlsson, Burns, Byfuglien, Keith
Hiller, Varlamov, Lehtonen
My team with the best record in rotisserie is 11 points clear of 2nd with 104 points.
Crosby, Backstrom, Schwartz
Byfuglien, Keith, Wisniewski, Sekera, Green, Giordano (recently dropped MacKinnon for a D as I'm running out of games for RW and am under for D)
Crawford, Fleury, Nabokov
Biggest surprises: Didn't expect Patrick Sharp or Marion Hossa to have such spectacular seasons thus far. Sharp usually went in the 4th or 5th round in each draft, and Hossa was available in most well into the later rounds (10+). Jagr and Iginla's continued dominance. Breakout seasons by Harding, Bishop, Okposo, Steen (hell, all of STL for that matter), Turris, JVR, MacKinnon, MacArthur, Johansen, Niskanen, Schwartz, Perron, Jussi Jokinen...many more.
Biggest disappointments: Stamkos' broken leg. Harding's spectacular season interrupted. Datsyuk / Letang / Gaborik / E. Kane / Ericsson injury problems. The Edmonton Oilers as a whole - Yakupov in particular.
