The goalies are great, but I don't see Gibson getting much playing time this season. Well he will, I suspect that he's destine to spend the year in the AHL other wise why acquire Anton Khudobin? He's likely the NHL backup, giving Andersen the crease this year and another FULL year of seasoning in the A.
Mrazek has a better shot at stealing the starters gig in my opinion. I'm very high on the Mrazek stock, touting him as dark horse Vezina guy if all breaks right...but Top 10 goalie is easy with the skill set.
Ideally you could keep both young goalies, but Hartnell is an intriguing option to be kept, maybe consider him over Koivu since Hits are a category and pass first centerman are likely available on the wire or in the draft..
What are your options on dealing Gibson and/or Koivu pre-draft?
I'd be inclined to keep Mrazek & Gibson - I think their future is brighter than the other players. That said, I understand the value of hits in your league.
BTW, It's a dynasty league. We keep 12 out of 16 players.
MY roster is as such:
NEVER...in Yahoo's history, have they allowed traded picks/players BEFORE that seasons draft. The ONLY exception is if this is done by the commissioner in the off-season....then HE is responsible for making changes/arranging draft picks.....Yahoo does not keep track of this.
I paid a lot of John Gibson so I'm afraid to leave him unprotected but that would mean I would have to leave the other players mentioned unprotected. Our league has HITS so Kunitz and Hartnell are vaueable.
I remember last year, team were able to make trades with both players and draft picks prior to the draft. However, it's not letting me do so this year. Anybody know anything about this subject?
and it also looks like they have also changed on autopick, that it lloks like if you get put in a live leauge it will be a live standard pick draft that needs to be filled, computer will still pick, but it appears no more being put in an auction leauge when you signed up for a standard pick leauge, as i hated that
Just wanted a heads up if anyone knew when this was going to open this year. My friends and myself go away for school soon so I wanted to know so I could plan ahead. I know last year was late August, and I have read it was suppose to open today (8/20)
SOMEONE CONFIRM THE EXACT DATE
Allows you to draft more forwards since there are so many talented players entering the league and in their first few years. You have a pretty good core here for the next three years at least.
How many teams are there?
He could just as easily play overseas in Switzerland this season. Winnipeg is in no hurry to rush him. He'll play sheltered minutes and likely get minimal PP if he plays. Rest assured, with McDavid and Eichel playing bigger roles for their teams, Ehlers won't be in a Calder convesation.
Hard to say without knowing your league's scoring / cats. Generally, I would trade Giordano - he's the oldest and he's a bandaid boy compared to the other two. Plus, not only is his value high for a trade, but Calgary has a glut of higher-end d-men with the additon of Hamilton and it may cut into some of his time. You're likely to get the most trade value for Giordano over the two as well.
I have 3 dmen and I can decide which two to keep. I have a potential buyer for any of them with a higher draft pick in return. It's an ongoing keeper league.
So, you'd keep Daley and Hartnell over the likes of Staal, Krejci and Zibanejad? I also won the draft lottery and will be picking McDavid first overall.
Also, most teams are keeping 1 d-man, so the Daley keep might be overvaluing him a bit (I do see your point about not seeing who the others are dropping (we don't find out until a few days before the draft, in order to keep trade chatter up)...
We also have a farm (of 4 players), where I have Morgan Rielly, John Gibson and Nik Ehlers (Rielly must be called up after game 3 of the season, so he'll be on the roster too)...
Does that change anything?
Without looking at the other GM's teams (to see who they might drop), I would keep:
1. Stamkos (Easy choice, one of the most solid 1st lines in hockey)
2. Seguin (Dallas should have a much better year with there offseason pick ups)
3 .Taveres ( Best season of his career last year with G38 A48)
4.Pacioretty ( His knee is recovering well , last two years has been 30+ goals)
5.Fleury (Most shutouts in the league last year)
6.Ekman-Larsson ( Great D considering the team, 20+ goals last year)
7.Hartnell ( When he plays close to a full season he is around 20G 30A)
8.Daley ( Best second defense on your list )
9. Vanek ( When he plays a full season he is around 20G 30A)
Hope that helps!
Keeper league. Straight points (goal=1, assist=1, win=1, SO=2)
I can keep 9, no positions mandate (we start 9 forwards, 4 defence and one goalie with a max of 82 games per roster spot)
Who do I keep?
