think about it - the possible combinations of rankings required for all variations of custom leagues would be in the quadrillions (do the math - its not a made up number). so how long in its nightly update would it take the yahoo computer to calculate new rankings - unless its a US military computer, it would be hours. and as a user, how would you use it - your search engine would have to uniquely specify the settings. very few users would care. a seemingly simple idea would be totally impractical.
sounds like a stat just for the purpose of having a stat. some are just so meaningless. I know every day when I look at the sports section I want to see who had a qs???
The league is a 16-team league with 30 roster spots (25 keepers so we draft five rounds every season)….super competitive and this is one of the stronger rosters for someone looking for a project
Like I said, this is a super deep league in its fifth season so prospects are highly valued in this league so there are tons of options as far a directions a new owner could take this team…definitely plenty of pieces to either win now with (by trading to prospects) or win later with by dealing some vets. Let me know if you're interested in seriously taking over this team and I'll shoot you an invite
Wins are not completely arbitrary. Pitchers Pitch to competition. Anyway thats why W/QS is good...cliff lee would have gotten 1 QS/W in those starts. During the 5 inning W he would get 1 W/QS, but not 2 QS/W...
You are citing an Extreame case, but still lee would have gotten something beside ERA/WHIP/Ks.
I dont think QS is good enough. 6min inning and max 3ERs. Thats 4.50ERA which is not good. I dont think W is good enough because alot is luck factor, but not all.
I think QS/W covers a terrible/ok/good/great starts. all in one Category ...
The people I listed are available SS free agents. Just having a difficult time understanding why people would say Elvis Andrus is not even worth a roster spot....especially over Escobar.
Ummmm....did I misunderstand.....NO sir, you said your LAST Util spot is Elvis Andrus....well, you can have ANYBODY in the Util spot. Galvis is better as a SS if your looking at ONLY SS options, and you failed to mention Russell, Castro, Simmons, Crawford, X-Bo, (Hanley still has SS elig), need I go on.......
Andrus has only a slightly worse batting average than Escobar and one less run but is better in every other category. Who is a better option? Segura? Danny Santana? Zach Cozart? JJ Hardy? Absudal Cabrera? Freddy Galvis? Wilmer Flores? Justin Turner? Brad Miller? Jung Ho Kang? I mean, there is slim pickings until Correa is promoted to the big leagues. SS sucks in general.
"Basically a starter could get a 1 for win and a 1 for a QS=2 W/QS. A reliever could still get 1 win. A SP could get one but not the other." Well, a starter IS an SP....and wins are really arbitrary anyway. Remember Cliff Lee? He opened the season against Texas a yr or 2 ago, got a W....gave up 7 ER...but he went 5IP, Philly scored 10. I hate that #$%$!
I would love to see a W/QS category. Basically a starter could get a 1 for win and a 1 for a QS=2 W/QS. A reliever could still get 1 win. A SP could get one but not the other.
I have one league doing only QS and one league doing both. I think this would put a proper emphisis on both.

All things considered.....Rizzo plays home games in a hitter haven. While Goldy & A-Gon both in the same div....full of pitcher-friendly parks. If that's not enough, Cubs offer Riz more protection...who they gonna pitch around?
Castillo is the fastest Sox on the team, he should be leadoff, or hit 2nd behind Betts, till then, Castillo will continue to be under-utilized but I'd still get him and stash him if poss. Hardy & Hamilton have injury and other issues. Soo Choo is on the downside of his career and may have good streaks, but no consistency. He's good for bench or trade bait if he gets hot again.
To automate that within a browser would take way too much memory, way too much time, and probably crash your browser, making you swear at Yahoo, #$%$. The settings Yahoo provides are based on a standard public 5X5, they dont even discern between roto or H2H, which would also incorporate another set of rankings. Be happy with what you got....there isnt anybody who is better!
