Is this DYNASTY team stacked, or what?

    by Gibbs Mar 8, 2014 4:44 PM

I was 12-2 last year, without Harvin or Gronk, so I expect to win at least 10-11 games again. I was #1 seed with a 1st round bye when Charles EXPLODED in week 15 (week 17 championship) and had my 2nd lowest scoring game of the season in week 16 (go figure). I had Charles, Gronk, Harvin, Cruz, Shorts, and Austin all inactive in week 17 too but still took 3rd.

I know RB is my weak spot. Rice is NOT valuable in a PPR league? Huh? He's one of the top 5-6 pass catching STARTING RB's out there. I don't personally think Rice will miss any time. There's no evidence of anything but him dragging a drunk girl out of a elevator...and they got married like a week later. Not to mention he has dropped 10 pounds and he had his first major injury of his career last season. I'll gladly take him in the 3rd-4th round in my other drafts this year too.

Moreno is definitely a BIG ?, but I think he will do just fine as a flex starter if I need him. Luckily I am only required to play 2 RB's each week, so I'll be using some combo of Jordy, Harvin, Cruz, Patterson, Maclin, Austin, or Randle as my starting WR's and flex players.

Yeah Gronk is a big ? too, so is Harvin. But when they do play, they rack up points.

I took Lattimore in the last (21st) round of our draft last year because I knew of his potential in the future. We will see how he rebounds from what is easily the nastiest football injury I have ever seen. A. Brown is now behind a injury prone Foster, which could mean big things, when Foster pulls a hammy, if he keeps wearing that plate over his twice broken leg. Yeah....with only 2 IDP players, they are a dime a dozen, but if not for Lee getting hurt, I had 2 of the top scoring guys last year.

Currently trying to trade Harvin for the #1 overall pick and grab Watkins, Evans, Hyde or another RB. Also have #10 and #15 which I'm shooting for Ebron and maybe Hill, Sankey, or De'Anthony Thomas. Or whoever falls to me. Really just depends on who drafts them.

I would keep an eye on the WR from Wisconsin Jared A. he is the best route runner in the draft.

I would say wait until after the draft before making this call. Also is it a PPR if it is I don't know why you would even entertain the idea of trading Marshall. He is your only truly proven Wr and your talking about replacing with a rookie. I say use your Draft picks to draft a QB and a TE and your problems are solved. Sign Mallet as a safety net if Brady goes down. Or draft one of the WR's and forget the QB idea since none are of the quality of the last couple years QB's and sign Mallet

I think you may have a hard time. Rodgers is a great QB Foles has not got a huge body of work so that is a coin flip. Starting WR are good R Randle might be your best bench asset this season. There are some ?? surrounding the rest of them. RB you may be in a lot of trouble. Rice is looking at a punishment suspension. He is also not that valuable in a PPR league. Moreno plays in Miami enough said there. Lattimore and Brown more ??'s TE Gronk is always injured I know this because I have him on my dynasty team as well. Witten is not a bad 2nd option though you might want to add another TE though either in FA or the draft. D players since you only play two mean nothing because you can find 2 quality players on D anywhere. I would look at grabbing T. Matheau if he is available though because of his KR yards on top of his tackle and big play ability. If it was an 18 team dynasty like my league I would say your looking really good but we start 8 IDP so it is more relevant defensively. In a 12 team I would say your are slightly above average. Could make it deep into playoffs if the ??'s don't come back to bite you later.

    lynch value

    by Jason A Apr 19, 2014 10:46 AM

I agree with both Gibbs and Matthew. RB's have a shorter shelf life for sure but you need to consider that Lynch did not have a large number of carries in the first like four years of his career due to injuries and he was spelled in buffalo. The last couple of seasons he has lasted the whole season but he gets spelled in Seattle on a regular basis as well. He has more left than other RB's have who have see a ton of carries through their career like for instance MJD

I agree with Matthew. I don't think the 12th pick will get you Lynch. I doubt even the 1st pick would get him. You would probably have to add a player to that 12th pick, or any other pick for that matter.

Lynch is worth a high 1st rounder in a dynasty. If you can get him for the 12th pick, that is cheap. It probably won't be accepted though.

  • What is his value? I am in a 14 team dynasty league and have christine michael. The guy who has lynch has said he wants to acquire a 1st round pick. Thru trades I have multiple 1sts so I offered my 12th pick for lynch and his 22nd. I am not so willing to pay much more as running backs decline so early now. Is that a fair offer?

I would probably make the trade, if he's really WR strapped I'd think about offering Harvin for that #1pick, but that's mostly because I don't believe he can stay healthy for a season and the #1 rookie pick is great value for him.

I have the guy with the #1 overall pick interested in a trade too. I give my first two #10 and #15 for his first two #1 and #24. I either get the best player available, or 2 of the top 15. I'm REALLY considering the trade. Our benches are DEEP, so there won't be a lot of great options at the end of the 1st round. I could get Hyde or Mason for sure that way. It's not like my team needs a lot of help anyway, except for a young RB. I have youth and depth everywhere else. Would you make the trade? He REALLY needs a WR, so I might be able to get his #1 pick for the right WR. He's also rolling with Ryan and Rivers at QB and he's not happy about it. I think he would take Foles for that pick too maybe, but I'm reluctant to let him go. Any thoughts?

Looks good, but do not invest a 1st rounder in gerhart. While he is starting, he will be going against some competition for downs. Hyde and mason are worth it regardless do to age and stud potential. Gerhart is by no means a stud. Let someone else pick him high, and you will laugh later.

Yeah... I actually like Moreno in Miami. I think it's the 2nd best spot he could have landed besides Denver re-signing him. He should get #1 duties over Miller, and Daniel T. is probably done there now. So far, it doesn't look to me like there's enough evidence on Rice for him to get in big trouble. No video of punches thrown = her word vs. his. They will probably get counseling and worst case he misses 1 MAYBE 2 games...if any at all. If Djax leaves Philly, and it sounds like he is, Maclin could be a BIG sleeper in that offense. Just depends on how well he comes back from injury. He's still young, and talented. Nicks left NYG too, so Randle should get his chance, and I have both of Mannings two starting WR's. I'll gladly trade high on Randle if he starts off hot. Given my scoring settings, almost my whole starting lineup consists of players that would be taken in the first 3 rounds of a 12 team redraft league. Patterson and Foles may even be included in that. Cruz is probably a 4th rounder. A.Brown...who knows there. We will see where he goes...anywhere but NY is better for him with Jennings in town and Butterfingers Wilson coming off of neck surgery. Lattimore is a stash who could pay off BIG someday, maybe not till next year, but we have deep benches so I can afford to hold him.

And yes, I am targeting a first pick RB. I doubt Hyde will make it to me, but I'll gladly take Tre Mason as well. Toby Gerhart will be there too, again I'm not sure if he will make it to #10 or not though. I'm considering trading my 1st 2 picks for someone elses if I can get em to do it. If I can get inside the top 4 I can grab one of Watkins, Hyde, Mason, Gerhart, or maybe M.Evans. Not sure if anyone would be willing though considering their teams aren't great.

    Thanks for your input.

I like it! RB is your weakest spot, so Rice's aggravated assault charge really hurts and Moreno is in Miami. Andre Brown should be signed soon too. Moreno or him chould still be worthy of a flex play depending on Patterson, Randal and Maclin's years. I see you went with an all-PSU IDP team, gotta respect that as an alum! You might want to roll the dice on an IDP with your third pick since you get extra roster spots. Not sure where Mack will go in your draft. Other than that you may want to go with Rookie RB's at picks #10 and 15 even if one isn't Hyde.

Unless you can get a significant upgrade at QB I wouldn't trade Marshall either. Wait till the season starts and see where Patterson, Tate, Randle, and Williams are. If two or three are putting up good numbers then it's time to sell high on someone. You have 3 WR spots and a flex, so without trading anyone you could use all 5 players through bye weeks etc. Trouble could be that the targets for the younger guys aren't there or are inconsistent for them to be weekly starters in PPR. You'd be hurting without Marshall.

Matt might be overestimating the value, but he's right that this is prime time to trade Patterson...
He's a big guy with all kinds of talent, did very well near the end of last year....
    AND
He's in a new offense, with new coaches, at least two talented pass catchers that he'll share targets with and still no idea who's gonna be throwing them the ball... and there's a Running Back in Minnesota that's pretty much the focus of that team.

Patterson's upside looks to be high to mid range WR 2 for fantasy, but a lot of people are convinced he's gonna have a breakout year so his trade value is sky high right now.

I think that's a good call. You will be just fine starting Marshall, Patterson, and Tate along with Gore, Rice, and Vereen at flex. Tate is trying to get punt return duties in Detroit too, and he probably will, so that helps a little with your scoring settings. Still having some depth for injuries or bye weeks. Ellington could break out now that Mendy retired. And Williams could too with M.Austin out of Dallas. I'm almost certain you won't get Watkins at #4. You might have a chance at Evans or C.Hyde though. Both should be good pickups. Then maybe grab a QB at #11 if there is still one there. I wouldn't worry too much about Brady. Yes, he had an off year. But he's also one of 5-6 QB's who threw the ball over 600 times last season. And that Brady to Vereen combo is gonna be nice. They also signed LaFell, so that will help assuming he can pick up the playbook quickly. You can worry about TE later, one will pop up like J.Thomas did. Someone probably has 3 TE's on their roster too, maybe you can get one cheap in the first few weeks. Keep an eye on L.Toilolo in ATL if hes still out there. He's replacing Gonzo, and he's 6'8".

Also..that guy is trying like hell to dump R.Mathews...don't fall for it. He's now part of a 3 headed monster with D.Brown in SD...no thanks.
