11 team, Standard 5x5 roto league, keep 8 players. Is Bregman worth using a #1 waiver call on? I was going to use it on Archer but passed and got him anyway. Is Bregman worth using it on? and if so who would you drop? I lean toward Peralta or Beltran. Thanks.
3B Valencia (1B, 3B, LF)
LF Saunders (LF, RF)
CF Springer (CF, RF)
Util Encarnacion (1B)
Util Odor (2B)
Bench Myers (1B, CF), Baez (2B, 3B, SS), KDavis (LF), Peralta (DL, will activate Friday; LF, RF)
DL Brantley (LF, CF)
SP Strassburg, Carrasco, Hill, Lackey, Hammel, Archer, Happ
RP Osuna, Maurer, Kintzel
There's a good chance Sanchez gets shut down or moved to the pen in September, so I think I'd want the Gordon side of the deal unless I'm way ahead in SBs.

A guy in my league is out of it and trying to get younger. Offer on the table is Eduardo Nunez for Adrian Beltre.
My 3B is Carpenter and my SS is Correa. With this scoring, Nunez isn't a top 150 player. Mostly because of BBs. However, I already lead the league in BBs so that missing aspect of his game doesn't bother me. I'm also really stumped on his actual long term value.
So do I move him for Beltre for a run down the stretch?
That's an interesting comment coming from someone who just 1 month ago was harping on Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo as the 2 most overrated players in the game--with the latter not even worthy of a top 200 ranking.. lmfao
My lord...Who the heck else are you waiting to use your waiver priority on? People get so obsessed about saving these dang waivers..
.284/.362/.594 21 HR 65 RBI. That Slug% is 3rd in the MLB btw.
What kind of a league are you playing in that he gets dropped?
Runs per game two years ago was 4.1, quite a low. Last year 4.2. This year it was 4.5 or 4.6 when I checked a month ago, which would be on par with 07-09 period. 1999-2002 saw some Runs per game over 5 and 5.1, so we still have a ways to go for that.
Would you rather have Jake Lamb on your team in a few days or would you rather have a nice #4 waiver priority (actual cash value 1/10,000,000th of 1 cent) ?
Strikeouts (or prodigious strikeout totals for hitters) have become the standard for the past 25 years.
30 years ago the average hitter struck out about 12% of the time and nobody would dare strikeout 100 times a season. Those days are gone.
Now a hitter that strikes out fewer than 20% of the time is a contact hitter and 20-25% strike out rates may be acceptable. It is not until you get to 28%+ strike out rates (regardless of total strike outs) where stuff is meaningful or meaningfully pitiful.
Bat over arm.
You just saw how fickle the closer position is with the trade of Chapman. Miller suddenly became useful and Rondon suddenly became fantasy irrelevant.
Bregman will be a much more useful bat than Miller is a pitcher...ESPECIALLY in H2H.
Bregman will help you 5 or more days a week at 3 or more fantasy baseball positions in at least 4 hitting categories.
Miller MIGHT help you 2-3 times a week in one fantasy baseball position and in exactly 1 pitching category.
Just as an FYI, Bregman is not going to be replacing Correa at SS anytime soon so he will def gain another position eligibility by next season (possibly 3B).
It is also a very prolific season for K's.
The top 20 Hitters have 490 home runs, with 1969 hits in 7334 ab's.
They have totaled 1893 K's.
Their collective batting average is .268
Their strikeout average is .258
Their BABIP is .361
If you only have 9 keepers, then you probably shouldn't be keeping Bregman. Further, you could probably net a higher return by simply shopping Miller.
Generally agree with this. Assuming Bregman isn't the 9th best player on your team (which, unless your roster really sucks, is probably true) and no funky keeper rules, I don't think you're keeping him. You should be able to get a real keeper asset for Miller, who was ranked in the Top 50 on Yahoo BEFORE he got the closer's job back.
We get 9 keepers... if I accepted the trade, I would keep Bregman but I should mention I already own Seager at SS. This league does not have a util slot. So the only way I would be able to play Bregman would be if he earned eligibility at other positions.
He's got great potential but I feel like giving up an elite RP, who is my only RP currently, may be too much to give up.
