(Mock Drafts) 'New' Live Draft Doesn't Work For Me

Hopefully we'll be able to use the old version for our live drafts. Recently I tried the new version during a mock, and I was very disappointed (not a surprise). Not only was the screen hard to read, I had problems when I was scrolling down the list of players - if a draft pick was made before I could click on a particular player the screen refreshed and I had to start scrolling down once again... VERY FRUSTRATING! When the mock was finished I completed the survey and voiced my dissatisfaction. As usual, Yahoo "upgrades" are really DOWNGRADES in disguise. The main source of my frustration is that fantasy football seems to be the guinea pig for changes. It seems to me that Yahoo should use less popular fantasy sports to experiment with (like NECKCAR, or hockey) before they mess with their most popular fantasy sport.

    Live draft

This subject is near and dear to my heart - please excuse the length... In my opinion, NOTHING beats a live, offline, in-person draft experience!!! I've been blessed to have participate in such a local league for a number of years. Make sure you get the league rules published in advance of your draft! Next, I highly recommend that you take a little bit of $$ out of the pot and buy a league trophy. There's nothing like going to the annual draft with the trophy proudly displayed in front of you! Guys might protest the initial expense of the trophy, but I would stand firm. It's a one-time expense and is well worth it! Also, insist that you get everyone's $$$ IN ADVANCE. Insist that if they don't pay before the draft - they cannot draft a team. As commish, I've wasted too much time over the years as a collection agent. You may want to set a cutoff date for entry fee due dates. If they can't get the $$$ before the due date, you'll have time to recruit a replacement manager. As far as draft facilitation, I always take my laptop to my draft. In addition to recording everyone's picks, I'll have my "cheat sheet" handy. Some leagues purchase draft boards - there's a lot of boards out there for sale, get one to suit your needs and budget. The draft board is an league expense, but it makes for an excellent draft experience! Get a timekeeper - preferably someone that's not drafting a team. As commish, you'll be busy enough recording everyone's picks and drafting your own team - you really don't want the extra burden as timekeeper. You can also make the timekeeper in charge of the draft board, it helps the draft flow better. Finally, have a fantasy "super bowl" party. Not only is it another opportunity to get everyone together, it's fun when you win the $$$ and the trophy! HAVE FUN! You are truly blessed that you can have a in-person draft! It looks like my league will dissolve this year, so enjoy your league while you can!!!
