I don't worry about age at 1st base. Power hitters move there and you're going to be able to get a guy always. Votto and isn't even close. If you want to get Freeman by all means go get him and you can even trade Votto but you have to get something else back. 3 years max Votto won't even have a chance to get old enough for you.

I don't think they are all the same but I wouldn't invest heavily in them either. I won a league that a couldn't have without Greg Holland last year. H2H you can punt the category and be fine. But Roto with an innings limit you have to have a solid K per 9. And the ratios really help. Even a guy like Smiley last year was valuable, without the saves, thanks to his other stats.

Jean Segura vs. Andrelton Simmons predictions?

There are some really good SS prospects in the minors right know. I wouldn't give up too much to add one of these two. I would take whoever you can get cheaper. And look for a kid to back him up with.

Any round at all? If you guys are drafting on different ends of the draft that could be a substantial jump. I would rather have Prince but if you take his 1st of 2nd pick, whichever nets the best for you, that's worth it to me. But its tough telling without knowing who all is kept and the 1st base/ catcher landscape pertaining to free agents. I think you can make it work in your favor. According to RotoChamp your losing about $5 Posey for Prince straight up, but you should be able to get that back in your round trade up. And it will be easier to add 1st with decent value late in your draft than a catcher. Overall you should be able to net at $5 for your team. With possibly more.

Yuck. I'm not saying be one of the first teams to grab a closer but that is pretty bleak. I'm keeping Venable as he has the best chance to help you this year. And then probably Garcia he's been projected in the 5 hole on the heavy side of changing because of splits. An gets to hit at the Cell. I like Yelich long term, but the Marlins lineup and park are both to scary for me. And keep a close eye on Jesse Crain through spring not totally sure that is Qualls job.

You're going to lose positional eligibility on both, but you can't have Mauer at 1st base you're going to need some power there in the future. Tough call for this year. They're both high average low power guys. I'd say Carpenter as well. It is really close for me.

I believe in Heyard as well and would rather bring 4 bats in. So its Darvish and Cole with Heyward. and the first 3 listed above.

No Moore. Elbow woes along with a Velo drop. I would hate to give Cole back. Cole over Hamels for me thanks to age and win potential.

Not Adams he has serious split problems. And Taveras may push Craig back to 1st base. I don't think he will get enough at bats to get the value you need. Marte could deliver a decent value you this next year, but long term his contact rates are only so-so. His BA last year was supported by a very high BABIP one he can sustain in the short term because he can leg so many infield hits out. Once he slows down he has to develop some power to retain his value. I don't he's going to develop that power. Iwakuma is a good pitcher and he may get a few more wins with a little more offense around him, but the other numbers should regress a bit. He can contribute to your team. But with the two closers you can afford start your Bo Sox guys and draft in other areas, thanks to their low ratios and high K rates.

his tools play. That really crowds your outfield. I would look into a trade for one of your other outfielders. Probably J-Up. Help at 3rd base or another arm would be nice. If you have the utility space play them all. Billy might have some good value if he can start running to begin the season.

Man I replied to this thoroughly but it didn't post apparently. Frustrating. Having the Red Sox to start with is a bonus, and what has been taken from your tram isn't that bad at all. The Red Sox lack a couple things in the fantasy game. The first is a fantasy ace but you've remedied that by adding David Price, who had a great second half. Shelby Miller's shoulder woes worry me a little too much, but if you believe he can continue with the success he had in the first half of last year than you have to pitchers to lean on. He's a two pitch guy so be sure to sell if you notice a Velo drop in the future. The Sox have some good arms on the farm that should be helping you out in the next couple years. The second is a plus offensive catcher you have the ability to remedy that with Mauer. He'll lose his catcher eligibility next year but he fits the bill for you to win this year. And hopefully Swihart will be up AJ will only be needed for one year. Adding Billy Hamilton can win you steals almost by himself if all goes right, but if he should falter you have Ellsbury to fall back on. Pair those two and you can win steals running away, no pun intended. I know it is always great to chase saves but the K potential you have sitting here with Jansen and Rosenthal is too good to overlook, and the will help lower the ratios for your entire staff. Koji had a great year but he's no spring chicken and his Ks are low for a closer. You have the potential to win steals, saves, and probably Ks easily. Get a good jump on these categories and then use them for trade value or just look them up. And Rosenthal has the arm to be a starter and could work his way back to the rotation, ala Adam Wainwright. The last pick is the toughest Castro has to be better than he was last year. And can you afford to wait for Soringer or Taveras or both. Springer's speed power potential is exciting and Taveras could be the best bat on the Cards today. Taveras is my last pick he has the contact skills to let all

Which 3B would you rather have?

For me it is Arenado. He was a little overvalued and too hyped so his first year up seemed to disappoint many, but it was a decent rookie showing. He has a good chance to hit up in the order, where Castellanos doesn't. His power will grow and be supported further in Colorado. Castellanos on the other hand has the contact rates to hit .300 in very good lineup, but 3rd base isn't a place to only hold your BA in check. You want Arenado's decent home run potential slotted into your lineup, now and in the future.

    Beltre or McCutchen

McCutchen all day hes a five tool player. And hes younger if looking at a keeper although keeping only 3 doesn't really restrict you there. First 2 are great keepers and then a bit of a drop off, but McCuthen is your guy.

    Price or Moore?

Moore has nasty stull but hes gotta show it in the bigs and Price isnt old by any means. I doubt when contract comes back around Rays expand his price tag with plenty of youth pitchers around. So even if regresses in maybe 3 a move out of the Al east counters thats. And this season your looking at the an innings cap on Moore. Price it is. If this is a total rebuilding year, and your setting up for years to come then a Price and Moore both have arguements, but if your gunning for this year. Then Price is the clear choice.

    Keep Wright or Granderson?

    by Colin Feb 24, 2012 12:58 AM
    ray c ray c Feb 24, 2012 12:03 PM Flag

Cant really call it a breakout year for Stanton. Hes already brokeout. He needs to improve his plate disapline and contact rate, but all things can be frogiven with the power numbers he produces. Fielder isnt even in this conversation. Hes consistent never misses games, good BA with power. Not good around the base paths but once again can be forgiven. The thing with Wright and why I say you keep him is for is position. Health is his only question mark. But moving in Citi's fences is good for all Mets. I doubt you can replace a thid baseman so easily. Youll have plent of power no matter who you keep. I suggest selling granderson actually. You have poor BA and Power with two outfileders. Stantons lineup imporved while Grandersons is regressing with excpetion maybe for Cano. And I think we saw a career year from Granderson sell high. You got the best year from him. You can find some value maybe high steals and BA with some runs a top of the order guy fairly cheap. Throw in a pitcher assuming you have open trading all year as most of my dynasty leagues are.

    Holliday or Hosmer

I doubt Hosmer will ever develope Holliday type power. But some regression will come to Holliday in the near future and no Pujols protection. You have plenty of years left with Hosmer and with bats developing around him and in the farm, I would rather have Hosmer in a dynasty setting. Also gonna ride on the rest of your lineup. Immediate future is Holliday but long term Hosmer.

I'd go with Upton. You Jennings for steals. And even grab another closer ot two in the draft if you can get em at the right price. Your lineup is Stout look for some future big arms. Like a Bauer maybe. Plenty of guys to keep an eye on with only ten teams. Lots of prospects left out. Outside of Hamels and CC you need a rotation bad.

Dont care for giving Ian Desmond a bench spot. Casto is young and not much injury worry beyond a freak accident. Stout lineup not much for stolen bases beyond Ichiro which talk thru camp suggests he may lose leadoff spot. Add that to getting slower with age your gonna want a few more swiped bags. Id consider moving Ichiro to the OF spot adam jones can position the bench spot of Desmond. or find a good sorce of steals to take the bench spot for now. Maybe a Ben Revere should he be an everyday day player he'll steal a ton. Just see whats out there. you got the pitching and the pop.
