unfortunately youre not the commissioner of the MLB.....he could have came clean about it decades ago and he would be in the hall, but he lied for years until the recent PED stuff (bc he thinks it will make him look better if he admitted it when everyone else looked bad already) again, i dont agree with how it played out BUT i certainly understand the rationale

i have a few times...but as i said already, i went into the draft with a strategy of all hitters basically for the first 7-8 picks. cheap SP and dominant RP guys who werent closers (FA pickups)

im not disagreeing that MLB turned a blind eye, but i was making a point that rose was an idiot......as far as the "edge over everyone else"....thats a bit of an overstatement when hitters and pitchers alike were juicing....it wasnt "everyone" but it was a bunch of them for sure

IF you are going to punt ANY category then you should have that in mind during the draft....you would need to draft more SP and hitters to make up the difference. changing your game plan 3 weeks into the season seems silly

what makes you sure they retire his number if he doesnt make amends? if i were the front office, i would wait until he died and then retire it.....but im a cards fan and we have our own mcgwire issues...at least he acknowledged his PED use and apologized tho....

rose did the ONE thing that is posted in EVERY dugout and clubhouse saying you SHOULDNT do....to this day it STILL says "dont bet on any games" (or something like that) in every single clubhouse and dugout in MLB. he thought he was special and they made an example of him. do i agree with it? no, but he had to know it was a possibility when he was blatantly breaking the rules...

you are blaming all of the old front office guys (that are gone) for sitting around and doing nothing while he used steroids AND then you want to say how the new front office guys (who had nothing to do with him) should invite him back? seems a little contradictory to me......also....the maddux thing....hindsight is 20/20.....im sure they would have paid him the extra 50k if they know what you know now....if you like the cubbies (which i dont see how anyone does....it has to hurt your soul) then stick with their decision to take a moral high road NOW, since it is NEW management running the show....thats just my 2 cents

it may have something to do with his PED use, but i read that it was because of the way he left his last season mid game on the final day. he never apologized for that and they are still sour....plus something about him being a bad teammate to some guys.....idk the real reason but thats what was reported yesterday

crumpton is apparently in line to start a game this week with wandy rodriguez having an injury....but i agree with scott that heaney is a much better long term option

he pinch hit today, and is playing thru it apparently.....just keep him unless you REALLY need to trade him....then get same value as when you drafted him in return...

kelley already lost his closer gig to robertson bc he is healthy again....but i would honestly not pay for a closer right now. i would wait for someone to get injured or pick up a guy like cody allen and hope axford keeps blowing up (i know you have axford, but allen is the arm to own in that pen)
