Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
I think I'd do that deal. D help can always be found on waivers. Additionally toews is rw/c and dats lw/c gives you huge flexibility.
Currently chris Mason looks like the start tonight for the jets. Therefore miller and price look the best options. Check the lineups nearer the time though.
Surely in a keeper league you're looking for players that are young with high potential. Pavalski and Jamie Benn totally fit that bill. If I was you I'd be looking to keep them and Sedin with one of your goalies. The I'd gamble and say with their duel eligibilty they have higher ceilings than kopitar. Iginla given his age definitely wouldn't feature in keeper plans.
Back to your question, are you really sure you want Richards? Looking at his roster and yours I reckon a D is your biggest need, you should be aiming for Letang.
Who to trade? With him having Miller using Enroth would be obvious maybe coupled with Iginla, Enstrom or Couture. To be honest though if I was him I'd reject most trades, it's a keeper league he should be looking further than just this one season.
For that reason I'd have thought Miller, Letang, Toews and Richards are probably out of bounds. It all depends how desperate he is this year.
What's the format?
If this is a standard 12 team head to head league.
Ian White is out for two weeks with a fractured cheek bone, so could well be cut and re-added in two weeks.
Seidenberg and Beiksa could all be replaced easily from free agency so in my opinion aren't really worth much here.
The trade is in essence:
Bobby Ryan, Marian Hossa and Ehrhoff
Ott and Daniel Sedin.
If Steve Ott can regain his place on the top line in Dallas then I'd definitely take the deal. Ryan is only playing on the second PP unit and that's why he's seen such a reduction in value.
I don't think it was.
Ryan isn't featuring on the top PP this year and that's why all his stats are way down across the board.
This is a keeper league so I guess there is value, but right now for this season I'd rather have Kessel
In a PPR league there is reason for it.
It depends how many RBs you start and what your depth is in the position and how good you are at riding match ups.
You need RB in the worst way possible.
Look to cut Lewis (why carry two tight ends). Add Cadillac Williams this week as a one week play.
Cut Garcon (any of the receivers you listed are better and most will still be available next week) and sign Ben Tate or James Starks if he's available.
Next put out some trade offers. Package Moreno and Britt and/or Moreno and Johnson as well as the same with Grant and one of those receivers and see if you can get any takers - you'd be targeting guys weak at WR and RB depth but have a decent #2 back, think Ahmad Bradshaw.
Moreno/Grant will have no value in a few weeks so best to act now.
Smith for Burleson.
MSW will be the #1 wideout this year in St Louis, they're a team that's going to have to throw and he should see more targets now Amendola is gone for the year.
Brees will spread the ball around so Meacham loses value. Smith will be the #1 or #2 read on virtually every passing play the Panthers call.
For me I'd be looking at Brad Richards. Especially if he gets that move to the Rangers in the offseason.
Failing that in a keeper league, Milan Lucic or David Backes. They both had 30 goals and asists, around 100 PIMS and a +- of around 30.
Of course it all depends on your scoring etc.
I'd say Richards and hope one of Lucic or Backes falls to you in the next.
Tim Thomas, Dustin Byfuglien, Ryan Clowe, James Reimer and Mikhail Grabovski all rank as some of my better pick ups.
Trading for Cory Perry at the All Star break was the greatest move I did, especially as Pat Sharp was in the deal who go hurt before the play offs.
Also picking up Jason Spezza from free agency two or three weeks before the play offs when he suddenly came alive.
Of course picking up two virtual stanley cups in two leagues entered is also up there...
Vick for the 16th round is a complete no brainer.
As is McFadden for 10th rounder.
Which brings it down to McCoy (4th) or Nicks (8th) for the third one.
What are the other teams like in your league? How deep is the fourth round likely to be?
I'd lean towards Nicks for an 8th.
The reason being McCoy will be a 1st round pick this year, with others keeping AP, CJ, MJD, Gore, Rice with their first rounders you'll more than likely (don't know where you draft) will be able to pick up McCoy with that pick anyway. Nicks will probably go somewhere in the 4th round (with all the missing picks taken into account) so you'd have no shot at him if you kept McCoy.
So Vick, McFadden and Nicks for me - they're the best "value keepers".
Except Couture scores most of his goals away from home (14 of 19 on foreign ice).
I'd go Grabovski, you can't argue with that run he's on. Plus the Sharks have been putrid the last few games.
