Commissioner Corner Message Board
So, I've got someone who's been after Arenado for a long time in a dynasty league.
How is this trade. Give Arenado, get Betts, Correa and Giolito. I'm a little suspect on Betts longer term ability to put up big numbers, but I also get Correa and Giolito...

hard to move players like this is 1 for 1 deals. Only reason you would really want to trade Stanton is a) if you were really really weak in another position and needed a fix or b) injuries have killed your team and you need to do a 1 for 2 or 3.

Size of league would help. Burns and Guerrero are only two hitters worth picking up, but you don't need an extra OF it sounds like so...McCullers is ok, but I would expect him to hit road bumps as a rookie. a 3.8 or 4 ERA seems probably, with a 1.27 WHIP.
I would not drop Flores, no way, but maybe try to work out a trade for him (I hope those are not limited) to get depth in another position or another SP. He has value at SS this year.

Burns all the way, drop Joey Butler. Here are some stats on Butler for you...2.2% BB Rate, 30% K rate, .474 BABIP. Nice story and all, but at 29 he's obviously not going to keep this up. Burns 25, has full time job, K% 15% BABIP .373 which will come down but he still could hit .280 or .290. I would expect but 1HR from him ROS though, but he's got enough gap to gap power to keep pitchers honest.

Possibly. last year his fly ball distance was 300ft, quite good. this year down around 270. Short term anomaly? injury? Not sure, but I think he could produce 15-18HRs from here on out.

I don't think he'll hit 30 again, but if you look at him historically he's been pretty streaky. last may he only hit 1HR too, i'd bet he still has a couple of 6-8HR months in him (and probably another bad month).

that BABIP might go up, but the power is not coming back, I think 10HRs Rest of season is optimistic, along with say a .290 BA rest of the way. Depending on what you need, if I were drafting today I'd look at him somewhere around the 160-180 range, so maybe a mid-tier SP with some upside? maybe you can get a carrasco owner to abandon ship? Target another struggling player who's got some upside.

dozier might bet it done, cutch and Donaldson are too much, the rest are not too appealing unless you wanted to go 4 for 1 and some of those 4 were keepable at reasonable salaries next year.

dump alvarez, put up matz, hold niese. Niese isn't doing much different this year than last two years by xfip. I would expect a 3.8 to 3.9 ERA rest of season, which is serviceable for NL only leagues plus he gets the Phillies and Marlins quite a bit, particularly in August, and other matchups like Colorado at home etc. Just avoid the @ CIN or @ CHI occasional matchup and you should be good.

Flores, though in an OBP league it evens out. Simmons has dropped his K rate, which bodes well for the average to stay in the .260 to .270 range, and with a decent BB rate he should produce as he has ROS. Flores BA has room to go up, maybe closer to .275 and he doesn't K a lot which is good, but I only see 10HRs ROS.

try a similar deal but lower the draft pick going back, it's not a bad deal and you need OF help and it's always good to get offense back for pitching. Kluber is great and all but he's much more likely to get injured longer term than Pederson.

Yeah absolutely. Lucroy is a beast when healthy, and you can't ignore C. you certainly don't want to overpay, but last year Lucroy was worth +25R, +3HR, +14RBI, +.30BA vs. rk 12 C that's big.

Goodness, a rookie pitcher in a 10 team league, and a rookie in the AL no less? good luck with that. That said, Zimmerman is pretty much toast at this point, he'll have his moments but I don't think he's a top 100 player but he's better than chi chi
