Draft and Trade Talk Message Board

You probably drafted Hanley before injury. I drafted him in 6th round after injury, but I was using a cheat sheet I forgot to update and totally blanked on his injury as time was winding down. I tried to make up for it but the infielders I went after kept getting taken right before me, and I still had to get some relievers.
I'm leaning to keep Hanley, but I need to stat competitive early too.

That's tricky. What does the rest of your roster look like? (rhetorically, I don't really care). If you have a lot of safe guys, go for upside like Marte or Viciedo. If you're already risky, go for Kubel or Doumit.
real simple trade. An owner offered me Desmond Jennings for Hanley Ramirez.
I'm set at OF (Braun, Harper, Markakis, Austin Jackson, and Angel Pagan. I'm less set at SS and 3rd where I have Asdrubel Cabrera, Pedro Alvarez, and Todd Frazier. Do I wait to use Hanley later in the summer of make the move now? This is probably as good of a 1 for 1 swap as I could hope for, but my roster would be unbalanced without more trading.
This is a standard Yahoo! H2H league, btw.

Yikes, take a chance on any rb on waivers before overpaying that much for Sproles. You could even grab some low rate guy like Mike Goodson for 1 week. Jones and White are both worth significantly more than Sproles.

who are you dropping for him? I wouldn't drop any of what you have for him unless you know something we don't. I don't love Morris, but your other RBs will all out-produce any Detroit back.
In a long running 10 team keeper league I start: QB: Aaron Rodgers, RB1: Ray Rice, RB2: CJ Spiller WR1 Percy Harvin WR2: DeMaryius Thomas WR3: Dez Bryant and TE: Aaron Hernandez.
My bench includes: RB: Johnathan Stewart, Chris Johnson, Deangelo Williams, and Cedric Benson: WR: Kenny Britt
QB: Joe Flacco.
I need to drop somebody in order to replace Hernandez for the next 6 weeks. I don't want to gift wrap anybody for the other owners. Do I drop Flacco since I'd only need him for one week? or Benson? or somebody else?
Also, should I target Pitta or Martellus Bennett?

I think some people are misreading the post. The ideas is that the poster wants to dump guys he can't keep for guys he can keep. He's not arguing he's winning the trade, only that his 2012 team will be better.
I get that, but I'm more sympathetic to the league for vetoing the trade. The championship should be awarded to the best owner for 2011, not the guy who sneaks in late and sold out for a chance to win this year. I know it's technically fair, but in my league, we have an "no dumping" rule that prevents this sort of wholesale late season roster shakeup.

1) league is non-ppr
2) close to standard yahoo scoring (w/ just a bit more value for qb's)
3) return yardage doesn't count, but return td's do.
4) it doesn't count anything to keep a player, it's simply just picking four players from last year's roster.
5) players can only be traded after being listed as keepers. so since I plan on keeping Rodgers, Johnson, and Rice, the only one of my four I could trade is whoever I pick from the list.
Thanks for the advice. I hope this clarifies the difficulty of my situation. I have to pick either one of Greene/Stewart or keep the less valuable WR/TE.

stellar top 4 picks. after that there's not a lot that impresses me. shoot for more high-upside rb's and wr's next time (less old guys) and see how that works out. your top 4 picks would keep you in most weeks though.
My league is a 10 team standard scoring / standard yahoo roster league in which we keep 4 players.
I had a good year last year, having kept Chris Johnson and added Aaron Rodgers and Ray Rice through the draft.
Who should I add to CJ, AR, and RR?
I have a handful of other good players from last year, but I think my # 4 will come from the above list. The RBs are worth more, but won't help weekly. Would you give up value and take a TE or WR? Or if you'd grab a RB, which one?
I appreciate any advice, esp. if you make your case. I might be able to get one of these guys back in the draft, but I want to keep a top-notch player (kept both Lance Moore and Dwayne Bowe last year).

I'd probably lose Hightower b/c his status is questionable. AZ don't need the game, and the Pats do. He might play, but even if he does, I can't imagine they'd center the offense on him.
What's Morris done this year? I haven't been paying attention. If it were me, I'd start Coles.
