    Keeper help?

    by Serge Sep 8, 2014 8:21 AM

The league does reward players with hits/blocks also, so grittiness is a plus... If Hartnell gets PP time in Columbus that'd be huge, but EKane could always breakout and make me regret passing him over... I think Burns is supposed to be only D this year due to Boyle's departure, no clue what yahoo will do about that though, thanks for the thoughts

  • Team:
    C: Stamkos - Kopitar - MKoivu
LW: EKane - Lucic - Hartnell - BSchenn
RW: Ovi - Nyquist - Yakupov
    D: Kronwall - Burns - Enstrom - Martinez
    G: Fleury - Luongo - Andersen

I can keep 1 goalie and 5 skaters
I kept Fleury, Ovi, Kopi, Yakupov, Kane, and Parise last year and can only keep 3 of the same skaters, since I traded Parise and Kane it's a non issue

    My thoughts:
Fleury, Ovi, Stamkos, Kopitar... then idk
That gives me two great centers and a RW, with a decent goalie (hopefully), so maybe LW/D for the last two?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if you would like my opinion on your own dilemma I'd be happy to give my two cents.

    Thanks!

  • Two guys are on my IR and need to come off, no clue who to drop-- this is a 12 team keeper league where you keep 5 skaters and 1 goalie, but only 3 of the skaters can be recycled
For a while I ran Patrick Kane, Zach Parise, and Alex Ovechkin, but both Parise and Kane have been moved in a trade for Stamkos (among other things) so I can keep basically anyone without worry
Probably: Stamkos / Ovechkin / Kopitar / Lucic / Yakupov (or... Kane) / Fleury

    My team:
    C: Kopitar / Bozak / Backlund
LW: Lucic / Hartnell / Vermette
RW: Ovechkin / Nyquist / Yakupov
    D: Kronwall / Fowler / Trouba / Barrie / Burns : )
    IR: Stamkos / EKane
    G: Fleury / Luongo / Ward

Pretty much everyone on the team had been on fire before the break (except Yakupov who I grabbed right before the break due to his return to the first line)

I guess I can only really wait and see, but is there anyone who stands out as the best potential drop in bringing back Stamkos and Kane?

    Thanks for your help!

Sounds good to me- thank you : )

  • Nyquist is playing with Zetterberg and Franzen, possible PP time (only his first game tonight, 2 goals)
Coyle is playing with Parise and Koivu, top unit PP time

    My team:
    C: Kopitar PKane Dubinsky
    LW: Parise EKane Perron
    RW: Ovechkin Hudler Coyle Toffoli
    D: Burns Kronwall Fowler Voynov
    G: Fleury Luongo Dubnyk
    IR: Giordano (D), Backstrom (G)

    Who 2 Keep

Thanks guys, I was really torn on whether keeping a dman was worth it, if Yakupov can keep up his pace and not fall into a sophomore slump I should be pretty set... I'm still not sure on goalie choice... Fleury may be terrible in the postseason, but that's really none of my concern as long as he can hold it together for the regular season games... I don't know yet, but I'll definitely have to think on it now that you mention it-- Again, thank you both

  • 12 Team H2H Points League, I get to keep 5 skaters and 1 goalie
BUT, 2 of the skaters must be different from those I chose last year (Ovi/Parise/Kane/Pominville/RNH)
So, my team is as follows with 'Name(Avg PtsPerGame)'

    C: Kopitar(2.7) - RNH(1.9) - Kesler(3.0)
    LW: Parise(2.9) - Morrow(1.5) - Jokinen(1.5)
    RW: Kane(3.4) - Yakupov(1.9) - Ovi(4.4)
    D: Campbell(2.1) - Markov(2.7) - Beauchemin(1.4) - Hillen(1.4)
    G: Fleury(5.0) - Backstrom(4.8) - Bachman(2.8) - Mason(2.2)

    Notable Free Agents-- Backes(1.3) - Lucic(1.9) - Carlson(1.4) - Heatley(1.9) - Hedman(1.0) - Saad(1.7) - Tarasenko(1.9) - O'Reilly(2.0)...

So, basically I just want to run my keeper choices by you guys-- I'm thinking of going with:
    Ovechkin-Kane-Parise-Kopitar-Markov-Fleury

I know that RNH and Yakupov are almost must-keep in a keeper league, but considering the strength of my team (and the fact that keeping RNH would force me to drop one of Ovi/Kane/Parise) I think it's safe to pass them up at this point. If anyone sees a terrible and idiotic flaw in my rationale please let me know.

I'm open to any and all suggestions; whatever ideas/insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance guys, and let me know if you have a post that you want me to look into.

    Help w/ Keepers, (Please!)

    by helmutt Apr 10, 2013 11:13 PM
Serge Serge Apr 17, 2013 6:04 PM Flag

I would definitely go with Toews C, Giroux RW, Landeskog LW, Karlsson D, Reimer G, and Kesler C-- Like you said, Toews and Giroux are no-brainers... Landeskog is by far the best keeper option at LW and Karlsson... again, duh-- As far as goalies, even though Luongo could end up elsewhere I think this whole thing has gotten to him, his play hasn't' been as good and he's still a playoff choke artist (not that that matters) so he's only going to decline-- Reimer and Toronto, however, are looking better every day (if you can believe it lol)-- I like Kesler because he can put up points AND provides that offensive presence along with solid faceoffs/hits/blocks (i think) though if you want a more injury-resistant guy there Richards is probably the way to go (plus having a LW that gets faceoffs could make a huge difference)... I'm still recovering from lockout ignorance so please excuse any blatant idiocy you find within my post :)

    Nothing But Trouble

Sorry, I realize I didn't make this clear in my original post--
----****In my league we can keep 5 skaters and 1 goalie, but 2 of the 5 skaters must be different from those selected in the previous year, meaning I couldn't keep Ovi/Kane/Parise/Pominville/RNH again, I'd have to choose 3 of those and 2 new guys****----

Thanks again, and I believe I already responded to your post-- If you want to pick my brain about it though, feel free!

    Keeper G Tender question

There's absolutely no reason not to grab him for possible use as trade bait... the only real question here is who would you have to drop to get him stashed?

    Visnovski or Del Zotto

    by Blade Mar 9, 2013 12:03 AM
Serge Serge Mar 9, 2013 12:28 AM Flag

Visnovsky can be great, but this season has been relatively rough... while the same can be said for the Rangers, the fact that they have Nash/Gaborik/Richards/Lundqvist to power them is much more reassuring... If I had to bet which was more likely to turn things around, I'd bet my money on the Rangers over Lubo... and if the Rangers can get it going, Del Zotto will surely benefit from it

  • Alright, so I'm in a 12 Team H2H Keeper/Dynasty League with relatively normal point scoring-- G(3) A(2) PPP(2) SHP(3) GWG(3) +/-(0.25) Goalie cat: W(5) GA(-1) SV(0.15) SO(5)

    C: AKopitar/RNHopkins/RO'Reilly
    LW: AOvechkin/ZParise/BSchenn/RWhitney
    RW: PKane/JPominville/NYakupov/VTarasenko(IR)
    D: BCampbell/AMarkov/PMartin/FBeauchemin
    G: Fleury/Brodeur(IR)/Backstrom/Bishop

When Brodeur comes off IR I'm dropping Bishop, not really sure when/if Tarasenko is returning...
My main question is... I kept from last year Ovechkin/Parise/Kane/Pominville/RNH/Fleury...

    ***
IF I can only keep 3 (Max) of those same skaters, who should I be looking to keep 4 next year???????
    ***

    ----Side notes----
RNH is playing terrible, but I'm hoping it's just a sophomore slump which would be excellent considering I only have to suffer for half a season... but then, do I keep Yakupov too? Tarasenko?
I have to keep Ovechkin and Kane at least, right? Kopitar is also extremely consistent... Trades...?

I just don't know anymore... I'm sorry for rambling and bringing up so many questions, it's just hard not to have a tough time with this team, at least that's how I feel.

Thank you in advance for any insight/analysis/ideas you can provide, and don't hesitate to ask me to check into your dilemmas if you have any, I'm more than happy to help if I can :)

Thanks Jeff, I really have a hard time deciding who to axe whenever I have to... I still want to hold onto Diaz too, just in case he gets more PP time but idk... and I'm dreading the day that I have to drop Tarasenko for Kesler now lol

What line does matt read play on PHI?

I believe Read is traditionally put on the 3rd line with Couturier and Knuble, and he does get PP time on the second unit I'm pretty sure... I know, I'm a Flyers fan and should know these things without doubt but our lines change daily lol

j.Staal and goligoski for hossa and boyle?

    by crazycroat Feb 11, 2013 12:02 PM
Serge Serge Feb 11, 2013 12:10 PM Flag

Assuming you're talking about Dan Boyle i'd take the hossa side; Chicago is on a tear and Hossa is tearin' it up with them... Boyle is a veteran offensive d-man on San Jose who is also tearin' it up and putting up the points... I've never been a fan of goligoski (Flyers fan) and Carolina is still having a rough time getting things going

  • Hi, hoping someone could help me here. I'm in a 12 Team H2H Keeper/Dynasty League. We get to keep 5 skaters and 1 goalie. My previous keepers were Parise, Ovi, Kane, Pominville, RNH, and Fleury.

Here is my team as of right now:
    C RNH
    C/RW CHodgson
    C/RW PKane
    C/RW BBoyes
    LW AOvechkin
    LW ZParise
    LW ATanguay (just dropped JMcGinn)
    RW JPominville
    RW NYakupov
    RW VTarasenko
    D BCampbell
    D AMarkov
    D SGonchar
    D RDiaz
    G Fleury
    G Brodeur
    G Backstrom
    IR RKesler

Ok, so Question 1: Anze Kopitar was dropped by an obviously disgruntled manager... who should I
drop for him? I know it's a keeper league, but Tarasenko has been doing the worst lately and I feel like
I have enough keeper options to lose him. At the same time, it's Tarasenko... and he was my first pick in the draft (after keeper selection). So then my options fall to Boyes/Hodgson I guess... both of whom are doing relatively well...

Question 2 (not nearly as dire): Raphael Diaz was tearing it up with Markov on the PP earlier... now Subban is back and doing work so obviously Diaz's value has gone down. Cody Franson (TOR) is available and doing pretty well, should I drop Diaz for Franson? What about Zach Redmond (WPG)?

I'm really lost at the moment. Whatever help or insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance, and feel free to ask my opinion of your own dilemmas if you have any :)

    Luongo??

    by gunslinger3002 Apr 25, 2012 1:13 PM
Serge Serge Apr 29, 2012 4:39 AM Flag

considering Luongo is still a great regular season goaltender there's no reason to think he'll be worthless next season, regardless of what team he's on--- schneider is good, yes, but he has never really had to worry about being Vancouver's go-to-guy and he could very well crack under the pressure or have an absolutely terrible start or anything really... I'm not saying you shouldn't keep schneider, but considering Luongo's weak point is his playoff play you should keep in mind that playoffs count for nothing in regular season fantasy leagues :)
