i think my team is better off with a stud SP in my persuit for a title. I have superb cf and rf, and of covered.
kershaw and scherzer are obvious

So you #$%$ consider Bum a borderline top 5?
After Kershaw and Scherzer, the next 10 pitchers are all pretty close. And he had started the season in top 5.

This is a 15 team league.
0ver the years, I have made brilliant trades, AND, I have drafted or picked up most of these guys off FA list. I drafted Trout and Harper, in a rebuild from nothingness. I drafted Bryant last year. I placed Correa on the NA list last year while everyone else was picking up other prospects. (I even dropped Lindor and C.Seager along the line!). I traded Chapman for Springer last year when offered. I traded one hell of a package to get McCutchen, including Soler, Dickerson, Rosenthal, Pineda. Plus I got Wainwright in a trade as a "throw in" a few years ago after his TJ surgery. At the time I made all my trades, I thought I was getting the better player, but giving way too much to get them.
I went from basement to contender, first by building a pitching staff (Verlander, Greinke, Wainwright, S.Miller, Sale). Then I proceeded to trade offensively or for relievers.
If I am a top contender? I give up better players to get what it will take to win the league. If I am losing? I will give up a package to contenders to get better players and give them a better chance at winning. 2nd place is 1st loser, so if I have no chance to win, I build. I always take a mid draft NA prospect to give myself a keeper going into next season. Taveras was a devastating loss as he was my 9th keeper, before he passed. Then I had settled for Mesoraco. Too bad I hadnt kept Archer.......
At one time I had Sosa, Bonds, Schilling, Johnson, R.Henderson. But when those guys retired in a short time? I had problems getting my feet back on the ground, until I decided to build, instead of finishing middle of pack!
I would get Bumgarner.
I have a crowded OF (loaded at CF and RF (Trout, Harper, Springer, McCutchen) and I have Bryant and Correa as part of my 9 keepers. Wainwright is killing me and I need a #2 to Sale. (I lack Closers as well)
Anyone besides Kershaw.
I have an offer of Bumgarner. Considered offering him for others in top 50, but cannot get compensated for Batter over Pitcher.
My OF is loaded. My LF is not performing.
LF K. Davis
Offense is under performing thus far this season.
It is a 9 man, 15 team keeper league. My pitching is
Berrios (NA) waiting on him.........
Looking for a stud #2 SP. I lose sending MC for anyone other than Kershaw, but letting him go, improves my overall team.
That is my kind of offer I throw out there, WHEN I CAN AFFORD IT. So, depends on what you have on your team as to what you do with it. It is literally an offer that I would make towards middle, or end of season if I have depth to cover it. If you like Arenado better, then HELL YEAH... Only downfall is Colorado. If he ever goes elsewhere, will his stats suffer significantly? If he stays, you have a great trade. Longoria is on his way out the door.
Britto is my 7th infielder, and will only play when one of my other 6 are sitting out. Do I keep Brito on my bench? Or let Crawford hold down a benchspot, as I already have my NA filled.
I am leaning the Crawford way. Thanks.
3 of the better teams, including commish retired from Fantasy Baseball. 2 others quit. With nearly half the league gone, we are going to start fresh. Looking to expand the league to 14 or 16 teams as well.
Standard 5x5 unless we include OPS and Holds. ROTO. Keeping between 5 and 7 each year.
please have some keeper league experience. better yet would be if you brought your greatest rivals with you. looking for as competitive as possible. so send an ee-mail and ill get an invite asap. draft currently saturday, but if we need to wait until Sunday we will.
Standard 5X5 ROTO. I would like to add OPS and Holds, depending on how membership feels. Keeping 5 to 7, depending on what people want. Drafting Saturday night, or Sunday if only a couple teams remain. Send a e-mail for an invite. There are 7 returning managers, but replacing the other 5, and expanding the league as well. Draft your own players, and be responsible for your success or failure, not take over another roster.
Bring your biggest rivals, and we can really make it an interesting league!!!

Any more thoughts?
Needing to fill my C, 1B, 2B, LF, INFIELD, SP, RP positions, would leave me no option but to draft only these positions with my `1st 2 picks, no matter who is on the board. While my offense is already stacked, there are enough positions that are uncovered at this time, and if I dont fill early, will end up with guys that normally dont even find a roster spot. That is why I am looking more to Matz, or Wong. more favorably over any other player. Needing speed, wong makes sense. Needing a 3rd and 4th quality SP, makes Matz a worthwhile gamble. With Wong, I can grab a SP and a Reliever with the 14 and 17 picks. With Matz, I am forced to take at least 1 hitter, which may just work out, but it is a big gamble. Yes, Calhoun will put up better numbers, but I feel it is redundant to overload RF while I already have 3 eligible players there already, and have the HR covered pretty well.

Um, If I didnt already have 3 RF kept. And if I didnt already have 3 CF, (Double positions) I would keep him for his homers. He will be drafted early on, BUT, he is overdoing the OF, UT, RF positions on my roster. Considering league depth, I need to consider Position scarcity, Speed, SP or RP. Trying to fill 1B, 2B, and LF will be a challenge to begin with. And I will have a heck of a time getting closers (I Kept 2 closers and drafted another early last season, then traded away). The top 10-15 will be on the keepers lists.
I dont disagree with your principals. Matter of fact, I agree completely, if not for my loaded OF, and position, as well as my need at Pitcher. Thanks.
