Who to Start Message Board
When do you drop any of these guys? I am trying to force myself to do so, but it isnt working. Especially when I am looking for closers.
Looking to pick up Singleton. I have Heaney, Stroman, and Pomeranz.
Really doesnt matter on position. Team is loping along in last place right now in 15 team league after winning it all last year. My keepers are sucking up a storm (Trout excluded). and a couple injuries (Moore, Harper). 9 team keeper. Hitters are impossible to grab unless you beat opponents to the punch. My bench is already N/A players, and with struggles, I need potential keepers.

Are we in Texas? Oh, Jackson... Cueto has the potential to be top 5 pitcher. However, he cannot stay healthy. I would love to have him if not for that fact. CarGo, however, when healthy, is top 5 player, not just OF. It is a matter of taste, so I guess you could say fair.

This is a deep league, so NO. Taveras is already on my roster. Polanco is gone as well. I hate to say it, but the way my Keepers are performing this year, and the way my draft picks have flopped, I have made this a rebuilding year. I am hoping I can get something for Verlander, and may even consider something serious for Wainwright. Cannot believe how well I did last year, only to crash to the bottom this season. Draft HITTERS, even if it means a sucky pitching staff. LOL
The past couple seasons, I traded away many a players, to build a winning roster. This one league I refer to, I traded ARod(before his drop off), Darvish, Papelbon, Castro, Bruce, Trumbo, Hosmer, Machado, Lowrie, Rendon, Greinke, Cingrani, Weaver, T.Walker, Pineda and I am sure there are others that I missed, all in the name of wining a championship. I succeeded last year, only to find myself bouncing between 14th and 15th place this year, in a tough league.
So, Was it worth it? Would you take a first place, and a last place finish? or settle for several 2,3,4 place finishes?

Miller has the talent. However, I think he has lost the "it" factor that he was on the verge of having. And I value him highly, and hope to get back. Pretty even trade, only because I dont own YoCep anywhere. LOL. Actually, as said, Bat before arm, unless named Kershaw or Darvish

That was over 2 or 3 seasons. You see the stats you need at about 2/3 of season, you chase what you need, whether that be Saves or Steals. If you have a chance to win, would you just say, NOPE, Not going to try winning this season? Or are you going to go for it? I am not the Washington Nationals for petes sake. 2nd place is just first loser............. I finished dead last 3 years ago, and many of those trades, gave me Verlander and Wainwright, Closers at a vital time, etc. Traded for Segura last season. .......... Some of these players were used to trade for some of those players in the process, so they werent all given away for "junk". I am a trader, grab what I need, if I need it. Last season was success, paid for with this season.

Season looking rather grim. After losing Moore, S.Miller not doing well, Segura flopping, Harper injured, M.Carpenter not impressive, Verlander struggles. And other picks failing, I have gone prospecting. I already had Taveras as a keeper. Now I have Bryant and Pederson on roster as well. Could be an interesting set of keepers? Wainwright, Verlander, Harper, Trout, and??? Taveras, and a collection of 4 other keepers depending on season performance. I very well may regret targeting 2015 this soon if a couple guys somewhat work out, and leave me setting in 4th place
If he didnt play for the Phillies, the outlook would be better (W's). My overall ERA is 2.42. My overall WHIP is 1.07. 286 innings, and yet only 15 wins. OUCH!!! A player I cant trade, and a player I cant drop. Not sure what to do at this time with him, considering fact that my DL is loaded, and offense and wins is keeping me out of first place.
Season has gone haywire with Verlanders struggles, and my pitching staff sucking, so I am in rebuilding mode with 9 keepers.
So who do you have on your roster if you are prospecting.
I will have 5 of the 6 on my roster, and likely will have 3 of them as keepers going into next season. Unless they all come up and perform well. I am almost leaning towards dropping Pederson. I also feel I need ot keep a complete starting roster.
This league has 9 keepers, and counts losses as a category and I am working my way away more towards a reliever heavy team. Trying to get to #$%$ 2 relievers, 2 starters. Now I have Chapman and Rosenthal as my 2 releivers that I want, though they could make great trade bait in final month of season to gain elite bat.

If you have the option of not keeping Verlander, I say go for it. If you are fighting for a championship and have to have the hitting, then no. If you need to make a drastic move to become competitive, I would take it.
Are you a gambler? Play it safe? No matter what you do, you could regret it. Then again, you may celebrate a trophy on the mantle. Adams wont be an elite keeper, so his loss isnt significant, but should Verlander regain his dominance, it could be a difference maker.
There. Could you ask for a more flaky answer?

I am not looking for2014, This is for 2015. Getting some help this season would be nice, but with my ERA/whip out of control, my average horrible, and my overall numbers elsewhere not good, I have started thinking about rebuilding. The players that helped me win a championship last season, have plummeted this season. 9 keepers, 15 teams 25 man rosters.

Who really won the trade? In a keeper, team A made a killing. In a 1 year league, offense is generally much more valuable. Bautista = 7 categories Sale = 5 categories, Uehara = 3 categories. Though ERA/WHIP are crossover categories. This is not a vetoable trade under any circumstance, unless you are jealous?

I am being greedy. I NEED to keep a full active roster, yet I am also trying to build towards next season. Mostly, I am needing to pick ONE to not have on my roster. The others stay. I know Bryant, and Taveras are going to be on my roster, and most likely (SADLY) my #6 and #7 keepers since Matt Moore injured. Verlander failing. Shelby Miller not a stud. Segura laying claim to last year being a fluke. Just traded away Matt Carpenter.
I expected more from Carlos Martinez and Chris Archer. Matt Adams is solid, but not yet sure what he will be. So, 2015 is the target. If everyone succeeds, I can make trades. If a couple succeed, then I will be playing with youth next season.
Deep Keeper league, 15 teams with 9 keepers
I am trying to tade the 2 of them and Pederson for Sale, and a throw in. I am building for 2015 now that things have fallen apart, but my offense is on a roll. My keepers are now week, with Segura, Verlander, ShelbyMiller, Matt Moore, Carpenter as keepers this year, all not giving me what they did last season, and not looking like keepers for next season.
Price has a chance of being traded to a contender, instantly making him in contention for most valuable pitcher in game. Where Sale, about as talented, will be stuck with his Sox team, and not likely to get as many Wins.
My team is going nowhere this season. Pitching has been disappointment, hitting has been disappointment. 9 keepers in the league, and I will be searching for an 8th and 9th keeper. I while mired in the basement, I am still fighting for a few points. Who do you go with?
