Who to Start Message Board
I am telling myself NO. I cannot afford another letdown in the ERA/WHIP categories. No chance of my moving up in W's, no chance of losing points in L's. My K's position is pretty well settled.
A bad start, could literally cost me 4 points, as I am that close. Yet a great start, WHIP under 1, in 6 innings, could lead to a solidified standing. No matter the results, I will be dropping him, but would you play him today at home VS SD?
My batting average is horrible, and I rank way down on the list in Runs. I am 2nd in the league in HR, yet not very strong in RBI either. So, do you take Bautista in a trade?
I am leaning towards YES, because the average is not going to hurt much anyway

I am not crazy about your hitting. as it is not dominating. I thought you had little chance, until I saw your top 3 pitchers. Dont trade away your closers, unless you make a major improvement in your offense. Chase those saves before thinking about wins. You cannot buy wins, no matter how good a pitcher does. 9 inning shutout, when their team fails to score, only leads to good ERA/WHIP, but you still dont get that Win on the board. You have 7 chances a week to get saves. You MIGHT have 2 chances a week to get a victory. 5 closers are more likely to get 10 saves, than for 6 SP only rarely will get you 5 wins. 10 SV gets you the point. 5 Wins, might.

lol. Other than the obvious. I dont remember such a day! Such a game changer, in one fell swoop. I rather have those 12-7-12-2-.358-.987 type days that I had lately! LAW OF AVERAGES. SLAP, SLAP, SLAP. Reality bites.

Until yesterday, I was about 8-10 points ahead of a 2nd place team. Then 3 for 41, and I lose points in 3 hitting categories, and with the point in WHIP, I only find myself up 4.5. I cant finish lower than 2nd as me and the 2nd place team now, are 15-20 points ahead of rest of league in 6x6 roto. I was significantly ahead in Saves, and Losses, and compared to 3rd in ERA and WHIP categories, I am way up on them. But, with the crazy stuff that can happen with batters, and the fact I had only planned on 2 points from Wins and K's categories, I was trying to decide if the risk was worth it to try getting up to 5 points in those categories, in risk of losing the 2 or 3. My pitching staff is stacked in relief. Strategy is working. I didnt expect a challenge where I am on record pace for total points on the season. Matz and Gray are not active right now, and could be key to a push later on, and I will be gambling with Gray. not knowing what to expect.

15 teams, 25 players per team, plus 3 DL. So NONE of the players you list are remotely available. Not bad advise. I have "false hope" or getting 5 or 6 total points between Wins and K's, but am close enough to get them. My strategy was only counting on the minimum 2, and is succeeding. I have already cost myself the 1 in WHIP. So it is a gamble, and I have room to spare, unless I get a couple more performances like that.
Sound advice other than league depth
After last nights performance, 1.2 innings, 7 runs, what are your feelings. Deep 15 team league. I am mostly in pursuit of low ERA/WHIP, with very few losses, and lots of Saves. Only other current starters are Sale, Lackey, and Heaney. I have gotten just enough wins that I could improve my standings by 2 or 3 points. My losses are in no danger, and I am second in WHIP, with being 1.12 and #3 being 1.19. I do have leeway, but last night jumped me .03.
I am on pace for record pace for total points for league winner, but the 2nd place team is also above that mark, and only 5 points behind me. I am way ahead in saves.
So, would you continue to chase the Wins and K's for an additional 5 points? Or accept the 62 points 6 categories with losses? (A lot to take in, I know)

Unfortunately, I am aware. winning 9 categories, and getting 1 in the last, will lead to a 2nd place finish most of the time. The pitchers listed, have lead to a poor showing in pitching categories thus far in the season. And when you stick 4 of them on one roster?
Another problem with SP's is the fact that they can lose games 1-0, or 2-1. Just because a pitcher pitches great, does no mean a win. Ask Cueto. How many W's would he have if his team scored every time he pitched? Verlander a couple years ago, same way. Heck, there are some middle relievers that get the W's more frequently than stud pitchers. But, you have to have innings, to compete in K's as well.
I expected Lackey to only be average at best, and get me W's. Hoped Neslsons start was legit as thousands upon thousands also bought into. Carrasco was doing great until he kissed a baseball in motion. Walkers spring was dominant, and I think he will recover.
Unfortunately, you cannot have ALL studs in your pitching lineup. Sometimes, it takes a gamble, to end up with last years Kluber. Many of the best P's are picked up off the FA list. So Big #$%$, you can criticize a couple of the SP on this list if you like. I imagine you only have the top 10 pitchers in the game on your starting rosters. You NEVER get the guys that fall apart. You NEVER miss out on the guys that become studs. Must be that time machine you have stashed under the blue tarp in the garage.
What would you do? I have him in a 15 team 9 keepers league. If he is done for the year, do you look for him to come back as Waino next season? Or is it time to cut ties? After a full season off, if he misses the rest of this one, his arm should be refreshed. We have 3 DL spots, but right now, it is occupied. So, do you keep him next season? Let him go now? Just looking for opinions before the big announcement.

Patience. That is the first step. Then Try shopping Andrus, but you wont get anything. I dont like Morneau any more on a roster. Still, ITS COLORADO. So, other than Andrus, the team looks OK. Even your catcher isnt going to kill you.

He, and Swihart are about the only 2 guys I seriously been watching. I will play without a catcher until Mesoraco returns. I dropped both Joseph (C) and Canaha(1B) in order to make the moves. My 1st baseman(Pearce) SUCKS. But there is 12 active batters, and I make up for it with the other 11. Though now, too many OF. I can only play 6 at any one time! Now, do I drop Lackey to pick up Tolleson? I have a SV and NO LOSSES approach to my pitching staff. I am surprised he is still there!

15 teams, up to 28 players per team, Losses count, Potential for Gausman, Lackey doesnt get K's, and I am not chasing W's or K's in the league. So, I wait for Gausman to get his feet wet, and if he turns it around, then I start to use him. If not? Well, I am only looking to avoid losses, and pick up SV, with very low ERA/WHIP. That alone gives me 60 PTS in pitching categories, and I need to assure myself of 60 or so points in 6 hitting categories to put myself in top 3 by seasons end. Heck, that could be enough to make me the league Winner.

Best case ERA is 3.5 to 3.8. Gets less than 8 K/9. But reliable. AND, I am looking for season value. I am not chasing W's or K's anyway. I may have to trade for Closers down the road. Our good man in LA, will be great bait when he gains a regular spot.
As the name implies, He Lackeys being a top notch pitcher. He has value in a deep league, but no trade value. He is 1 of my 4 SP's (Wainwright, Sale, Gausman, Lackey) and I am not chasing W's. Losses are counted in the league as well. Lackey would get 14-17 wins but with my strategy, I wont finish very high in W or K categories.
I need to make a roster move. But must first get Axford off the DL. Do I drop Joseph, and go without a C, until Mesoraco returns? Do I Drop Giavotella who backs up Wong, and also my IF position? My 1b is WEAK with Canaha/Pearce manning the position so I am desperate from production there.
I want to pick up Alex Guerrero who in the long run, once he has a position, will be a great contributor to season success.
What do I do? WWYD?
