Who to Start Message Board
-
As a prospect to contribute soon, or later on in the season, who has a better shot? Who would you prefer?
-
You gotta gamble on Kemp. Elite hitters (Top 6) are very difficult to find (After all there are only 6 of them). Price is a top 5 pitcher, but can be replaced.
-
Non keeper. That is why I ask. It isnt as though you are likely to have many potential "high impact" players on the waivers to grab with the way Yahoo lists everyone these days. My OF was weak enough I traded Josh Johnson for Carlos Beltran. (I expect Johnson to crumble one of these days), but Beltran wont be injury free either.
#1 waiver priority is what I have. 6 or 7, and I wouldnt even question it either. -
How high a priority would you use if he was recently dropped? I am debating. Obviously, I cannot plan on using him for the next month or so, but who knows
-
Why is it that whenever I make it a point to draft a stud reliever, and a second solid reliever, that I end up with 5,6,7 closers on my team in no time?
And yet, when I only get ONE reliever, that It takes me a couple months to get that 2nd reliever? I'm always slow at the trigger, with so many others ready to pounce the instant news is released about a new closer.
It is as big a deal about the 6 closers as it is about not able to GET that 2nd and 3rd..... Gotta love it -
10 starts? or 10 games? I was hoping by some chance the number was much lower, but not expecting it.
-
I need to get Ackley off my roster. I have Gyroko, and Carpenter, both playing the occasional game at 2nd. Nothing on the FA list. I dont think much about Bonificio
-
-
Who would you rather have? Rivera, or Trumbo? I have plenty of offensive firepower, but need another top of the line closer. Putz is only one I have right now.
-
I need a 2nd closer. My offense has Trout, Cano, Cabrera, and Braun, so I can survive the loss of homers from Trumbo. Putz and Cook are my only relievers. Do you trust Rivera this season? I know he has the best mental game, but will he hold up physically? Should I make the trade??
-
Pujols, Strasburg, Cepedes, Desmond, Kipnis, Chapman (I know early, but I like starter like K+saves
-
when did they announce Freese playing 2nd base? I guess I missed that news. Why will Carpenter be useless?
-
Carpenter may go eventually, but when he gets 2b eligibility, if he is hitting well, will be a great trade chip. Ruggiano, if you look at last years performance WILL BE GOOD FOR 80-25-80-25 with a .300 average. Myers could be up in a matter of weeks, and with my hitters, I think I can afford to wait around. I do need another closer. Just finished draft an hour ago, so all the closers are gone. Thanks for your opinion. Lincecum and Moore are my biggest questionmarks in performances, but if they pitch well, my SP's are superb. Batting average I am concerned about. SB's could be a close call on. I could see a top 3 finish here

Not a bad roster from the 11th position? I dont like my overall team average, and not certain I will have enough steals. I need at least 1 more closer. What do you think of this roster? -
I would be getting Rivera. I could use another closer to give me 2 but giving up position flexibilities with all those homers? Would you do it?
-
I started with Fielder and Tulo... Then took Hamels in 3rd. THEN I F'd up royally. I was unaware of Hanleys injury, so took him in the 4th. Panicked after having 10-15 guys Q'd up and every one of them taken before my set of picks. OUCH. Bumgarner and Chapman were my 5&6 picks, as there were no bats that I liked that early. Chapman was picked because he will still get Starter K's and cover the saves category. Early yes, but knowing how much my roster was lacking, I figure 1200 K's with low ERA/Whip may be my only rout into the top 3.
-
Strasburg and Price will carry your pitching, so trade NEITHER. Medlin, could make it Dominant, so if you can, try to keep him on your roster. The rest of the guys will be replaceable as the season goes on. Medlin in a 2 closers (with Street) for him would be needed. .Otherwise, straight up on.

In a 12 team or more league, what is your strategy when you draw the 11th or 12th picks, and the players in the league are on top of their game? Do you go best hitter, Elite pitcher? Best 2 hitters? What do you do? I know the team I drafted last night has turned out rather pathetic, but with too many mistakes made as well.
All the true 5 category players are usually gone in first 10 picks, so you are searching for elite categories, if your opponents know what they are doing. Just looking for opinions. Thanks. -
Oh yes, Chapman, will get a high # of K's, and get the saves. He is nearly as valuable as all but the most elite pitchers because of the combination.
-
Freeman was a mistake when I took him, Once I hit the select, and needing a different position, or pitcher, I was playing catch up. Everyone in the league was pretty well on top of their game. I would Q 10-12 players between rounds, and I dont think I ever got a player that I was wanting. Very last pick, I didnt get the players I wanted to ESTABLISH my team with. The wait for the 3rd pick was the roughest. I took a lot of gambles with the idea that if they pay off, I will be pretty good. But the chances of them working out is probably closer to slim. I have trade bait. Just gotta play things out.
I took Ackley with my very last pick of the draft, knowing that as soon as Gyorko, or Carpenter become eligible, he will be dropped for someone else. Those 5-15 games could be valuable by the end of the season, depending on how they go.
FA should produce a couple SP's. And how soon I jump on a couple of the Minor leage P;s, could make a difference, if my timing is right. I dont like my team, but I see potential
