    Trading Tulo/Cargo...which side?

    by Eric Aug 16, 2014 8:39 PM

Oh yes. Championship in balance. Still going to have 1 guaranteed elite player in your grasp. WIN AT ALL COSTS. You never know what will happen next season. If you have a title in your grasp, dont let go. If either Tulo or CarGo was going to be back this season, it might be a different story.

I traded away into a championship last season in one of my toughest leagues. I thought I had great keepers coming into this season. Injury (Moore), flop (Miller, Verlander, Carpenter, Segura) and Taveras not playing, I am in 13th of 15 teams. Would I do it again? HELL YEAH.... I have a title. That is worth 2nd place 4 or 5 years in a row. (MAYBE?)

    Trading Tulo/Cargo...which side?

Not sure how I would respond on the Tulo front, but Cargo is someone that if you can get away from, and end up with top notch talent, it may be a good thing. I LOVE him when he is healthy. But when is that? Package deal here is hard to make, hard to pass up. Harper could be 2nd best player as soon as next season. Harvey could be a stud, but how soon? Strasburg would be a great pitcher to go with Kershaw giving instant dominance. Brantley? I dont know enough about him. Getting away from guaranteed yearly injuries, is a good idea. (this coming from a CarGo owner...

  • I am dominating in K's, Whip, ERA, saves. I NEED Wins. I'm +40 0n innings with 48+ k's over innings, just traded A,Woods, and Darvish went on DL. Only danger is Whip increasing from 1.11 to above 1.13 to lose points, so a couple bad starts wont kill me.

Would you make the move, Dropping Chisenhall to get someone as I traded Woods for Seager.

  • I am 40 innings over the limit as it stands. My team severely lacks wins as Darvish, Cueto, Greinke, Richards with the other good pitchers I have had on my roster as the season went along. I lead the league in K's, ERA, WHIP, Saves. am +50 in K's over innings. Chisenhall is my current 3B, with having lost Zimmerman to injury.

The 2nd place team pulled off a B.S. trade a while back, getting Cabrera and Stanton for Blackmon and Tanaka. (Too few people protested the trade due to some inactivity) So I fully expect to finish 2nd unless I get some category juice, and can pump up my Runs and RBI's. I will likely lose the league because of just 53 wins so far, and am way out of the next couple spots on the list too.

(I got Greinke in a trade for Hamels---other pieces were involved)

  • Which of these 4 players do I want the least? This is a single year league. All will be depth/DH. Most important position to have right now is OF. I can have 3, but dont have a better option to drop.

  • Why is he being dropped at such a high rate this week? Is he worth the #2 waiver? I could use the OF depth

A maybe winner by the other guys wanting in? Or a guaranteed winner here!!! LOL. Anyway, at least there is a base to work with. Not a 2014 winner, but a couple great moves like I make? And 2015, would be a top 2 team at least.

    Soler or Pomeranz?

    by ScottA Jul 27, 2014 11:09 AM

    1: Trout
    2: Harper
    3: Sale (Traded M.Adams, K.Davis, J.Pederson to get Sale)
    4: Wainwright
5: Chapman (Traded Carpenter, Singleton, Stroman to get Mesoraco/Chapman)
    6: Rosenthal
    7: Taveras
    8: Bryant
    9 keeper ?????????????

My entire list of potential keepers is
Verlander (Team destroyer with losses and high ERA/WHIP)
    Mesoraco
    Cron
    Wong
    Segura
C.Martinez (I expected him to be one of top young pitchers)
    Archer
    J.Nelson
S.Miller (Keeper that fell flat this season)
    J.Gray (May be great?)
    D.Bundy (May be great?)
    Pomeranz
    Pineda
    Medlen.

This isnt the entire team, but the other "fill ins" are nothing remotely potent. Due to the counted losses with high ERA/WHIP, I have signed off on this season, looking to next year. 15 teams, 9 keepers. I am a trader. I will trade and overpay to get what I want. Giving up players like Stroman, Pederson, K.Davis, M.Adams, Singleton, Carpenter, has made a difference in my entire makeup. But I want to get a certain makeup for 2015.

Strategy is 2 star relievers, 2 stud starters (maybe 3) and #$%$ (possibly 4?) to make my 9. It would give me good balance to start from for next season. Another stud pitcher, or another star bat would be nice. Losses are counted, so I will sacrifice W's for Saves, as most closers have lower ERA's. Thus can attack 4 pitching categories. Then starting with 2 stud SP's, give me potential for FA or Drafting to come up with a good pitching staff overall.

  • My team is going nowhere this season. Pitching has been disappointment, hitting has been disappointment. 9 keepers in the league, and I will be searching for an 8th and 9th keeper. I while mired in the basement, I am still fighting for a few points. Who do you go with?

Chris Sale or David Price ROS

Price has a chance of being traded to a contender, instantly making him in contention for most valuable pitcher in game. Where Sale, about as talented, will be stuck with his Sox team, and not likely to get as many Wins.

  • Deep Keeper league, 15 teams with 9 keepers

I am trying to tade the 2 of them and Pederson for Sale, and a throw in. I am building for 2015 now that things have fallen apart, but my offense is on a roll. My keepers are now week, with Segura, Verlander, ShelbyMiller, Matt Moore, Carpenter as keepers this year, all not giving me what they did last season, and not looking like keepers for next season.

Who to take if you are prospecting

I am being greedy. I NEED to keep a full active roster, yet I am also trying to build towards next season. Mostly, I am needing to pick ONE to not have on my roster. The others stay. I know Bryant, and Taveras are going to be on my roster, and most likely (SADLY) my #6 and #7 keepers since Matt Moore injured. Verlander failing. Shelby Miller not a stud. Segura laying claim to last year being a fluke. Just traded away Matt Carpenter.

I expected more from Carlos Martinez and Chris Archer. Matt Adams is solid, but not yet sure what he will be. So, 2015 is the target. If everyone succeeds, I can make trades. If a couple succeed, then I will be playing with youth next season.

    Opinion on trade?

Who really won the trade? In a keeper, team A made a killing. In a 1 year league, offense is generally much more valuable. Bautista = 7 categories Sale = 5 categories, Uehara = 3 categories. Though ERA/WHIP are crossover categories. This is not a vetoable trade under any circumstance, unless you are jealous?

I am not looking for2014, This is for 2015. Getting some help this season would be nice, but with my ERA/whip out of control, my average horrible, and my overall numbers elsewhere not good, I have started thinking about rebuilding. The players that helped me win a championship last season, have plummeted this season. 9 keepers, 15 teams 25 man rosters.

    Verlander trade?

    by PJ Jun 26, 2014 6:31 PM
ScottA ScottA Jun 26, 2014 7:12 PM Flag

If you have the option of not keeping Verlander, I say go for it. If you are fighting for a championship and have to have the hitting, then no. If you need to make a drastic move to become competitive, I would take it.

Are you a gambler? Play it safe? No matter what you do, you could regret it. Then again, you may celebrate a trophy on the mantle. Adams wont be an elite keeper, so his loss isnt significant, but should Verlander regain his dominance, it could be a difference maker.

There. Could you ask for a more flaky answer?

  • Singleton,
    Matt Carpenter
    Marcus Stroman

    for

    Devin Mesoraco
    Arnoldis Chapman
    E.Suarez (Dropping)

This league has 9 keepers, and counts losses as a category and I am working my way away more towards a reliever heavy team. Trying to get to #$%$ 2 relievers, 2 starters. Now I have Chapman and Rosenthal as my 2 releivers that I want, though they could make great trade bait in final month of season to gain elite bat.

  • Season has gone haywire with Verlanders struggles, and my pitching staff sucking, so I am in rebuilding mode with 9 keepers.

So who do you have on your roster if you are prospecting.

    Taveras
    Bryant
    Pederson

    J.Gray
    Bundy
    J.Nelson

    Betts

I will have 5 of the 6 on my roster, and likely will have 3 of them as keepers going into next season. Unless they all come up and perform well. I am almost leaning towards dropping Pederson. I also feel I need ot keep a complete starting roster.
