Maybe the movie was right? Maybe the Cubs will win the World Series against Miami after the Marlins move to the AL for some reason?

Ha! Believe me... there is no need to search through your random and baseless observations about numerical trends. Sooner or later you'll regurgitate all of them right in front of me for me to see.

Your last post is just a random collection of false equivalencies that you've already posted many, many times. Are you sure you didn't mean to throw Pat Burrell in there while you're at it? Someone new to the conversation might've missed that lil nugget of genius.

Frankly, #$%$, when someone is presenting an argument and shows even the remotest willingness to manipulate data to suit their own argument - fair or unfair - it tends have a disqualifying effect on the whole argument. I'm just not sure we can trust the examples you provide any more. I'm sorry.

"Almost a golden sombrero" most definitely is not a golden sombrero. You're a slave to your numbers. I wonder if you can even see it.

Gerrit Cole and Pittsburg's bullpen rang up 14Ks in todays game. There are few teams that could have done anything with Pittsburg's staff today. But, here is what your numbers will not tell you: only one Cub drew a free pass today. That's right. It was the kid... eager to take it slowly and learn... taking pitches and building a solid foundation of hitting knowledge to further advance his overall skills as a hitter... sacrificing the glory of coming up to the bigs with guns ablaze, knocking balls out of the park for a patient approach. He understands that that will come in due time.

The real question is why you don't give Pittsburg's staff any credit. Could it be that you're seeking out statistics and measurements to loosely fit your presumptions instead of basing your opinion on the numbers? Where is your scientific method?

I feel ya. No need to show the resume. I can tell that you're knowledgable. Nevertheless, I think your last post was ludicrous in the sense that you're a living, breathing person. Have you never seen a player improve upon what the numbers or the predictions might have once indicated? I'd love to have heard your thoughts of Josh Donaldson when he was in the Cubs system years ago.

But you dislike the Cubs for some reason, right? It seems like Bryant isn't the only Cub you've called out recently. I don't hate the Orioles. I'd love to see a ballgame there.

Wait... is Carrasco on your team or a FA? And, is that Jimmy Paredes? I'd drop him for Carrasco first and Avisail second. I can see dropping Cobb if you don't have DL slots. Does it seem that many folks in your league drop DL'd players? Kinda tough to say. Also, seems like a smaller league? 10 team?

1st of all, let's just clarify that we're talking about fantasy baseball right now because (A) he's a fantastic/positive clubhouse leader, plays excellent defense and most importantly is still only 25 yrs old.

Having said that, stricktly speaking about fantasy, I'll give you that he's more valuable in OPS leagues but it's not like his average will hurt you. If I'm being honest with myself, I'd have to admit that I don't think he's a 30+ HR type of guy. I'd say 20-25 is realistic in any given year. In fact, I did pass on him in the 2nd round for Puig.

I may not know too much about "contact profiles" but to say that his numbers are an aberration at this point in his career I think is misguided. When Samardzija was drafted, people said that he was all fastball and that he'd be lucky to crack the bullpen. Sometimes those metrics just don't measure what's between the ears and I do think that Rizzo is a smart kid. We all know he's a fighter.

I know you're goin against the grain on Bryant but this kid is the real deal. I've been following him religiously for like 2 years now. It's not just the way he dominates. It's what people around him have been saying each step of the way. His head's in the right place. I like that he hasn't gone yard yet... indicative of a smart approach at the plate knowing he's new to the league.

I will say this, however. I wish he would shut the eff up with the whole "woe is me" for not getting to start the season with the team. The Cubs gave him a hefty signing bonus and it's likely that he's going to be renegotiating his rookie contract before it's up anyways. Comes across as a greedy duck (even though I know it's just Boras speaking through his client).

1-4, BB, RBI, SB today. I'll take that any day of the week. The northside of Chicago is the place to be right now.

Has he not declared? I don't know the answer to your question but there seems to be quite a few articles out there stating that the general consensus is that he'll be taken 2nd by Buffalo. I'd imagine if he knows this and is still draftable he's excited about being drafted by Buffalo and therefore intent on staying in the draft?

I think baseball's the only sport where you'd have to worry about losing a draft pick by not getting the salary right because there's no cap? Don't most other sports with caps have standard rookie salary caps?

I usually go to Rotoworld for player by player analysis (though I think Yahoo! has now incorporated Rotoworld's updates). I like Razzball and RotoArcade for 'quick-glance' info. If I'm feeling especially nerdy I might browse Fangraphs. What sites am I missing out on?
