Commissioner Corner Message Board

. I run 2 leagues. Each league has a 'Three-Day Rule'. A player must appear on a team's roster for 3 days before he can be dropped. A player added to a team on Monday, as an example, must appear on the Tues Wed Thurs rosters. Player could be dropped on Thursday as player will not appear on Friday's roster. I've been using this system for 5 yrs and it works fine although I have to manually keep an eye on the transactions list. If a mgr 'forgets or loses track, ha ha, the player dropped too soon is reinstated to the roster and that player's 3 days starts over and 2 moves are deducted from the team as a penalty. I have suggested to Yahoo that a system be implemented as an option for League Commissioners whereas a Commish could choose how many days a player must appear on a roster before that player could be dropped. I never got a reply tho I wasn't really expecting one as I've come to believe that the Yahoo Fantasy Sports peeps only specialize in reading comic books and blowing bubble gum.

Contrary to bad info seen by some on a website, Harvey is not yet on the DL for the 2014 season. If the Mets intend to place Harvey on the DL for the start of the 2014 season, the Mets can put him on the DL now but are not required to put Harvey on the DL until the deadline for the submission of the Mets' Opening Day 25-man roster. MLB teams must submit their 25-man rosters to MLB headquarters with a deadline that seems like it is usually about 16-24 hrs before that team's Opening Day game is scheduled to start. When a player is put on the DL by a MLB team, Yahoo then gives that player a DL designation.

Yep, seems like somebody screwed up. Just wonderin if I missed something. The Marlins signed Furcal with the intention of him playing 2B. The Rangers signed Choo with the intention of him playing LF. So, why is Choo (CF) not a LF-CF to open the season? Ha! See what I mean? Seems like a double-standard until if or when Furcal is changed back to SS only to open the season.
I see that Rafael Furcal ended the 2013 season as a shortstop but on the DL with Yahoo Fantasy Baseball. He hasn't played since 2012 and hasn't played 2B since 2004. So, I'm wondering how 'the powers that be' determined that he should open the 2014 season as a 2B-SS. Seems to me that Furcal should EARN 2B eligibility like other players earning eligibility at other positions...Just wonderin'.

Sano is in the player pool in my league. I'm guessing it's all about your league's settings...as in...there are 2 choices a Commish can make...players are added to the player pool as Yahoo adds them OR players added after the MLB debut.

The twitter message was sent from the west coast at about 12 noon. a few hrs would be 3pm on the west coast, 6pm on the east coast. kinda amazed how this time zone stuff is so confusing to so many. I've seen it all over the yrs ... earlier than the generally expected Tuesday after Super Bowl, have seen it hit on the Thursday after the Super Bowl, I've even seen it hit much-much (like..days AND days llater than the Tuesday or Thursday after the Super Bowl, and Ive seen it hit right on time. If it weren't for the Winter Olympics that start next week, we would be waiting til next week.

Seems to me that a 'few hours' from 3pm would be 6pm Eastern Standard Time which would be 3pm on the west coast (Pacific Standard Time).
Yahoo Fantasy Sports posted this message at about 3pm EST Thursday Jan 30 on twitter ... Only a few more hours. Yahoo Fantasy Baseball opens this afternoon. Stay tuned.

I rec'd an email from Yahoo today, Friday Jan 24, that said Yahoo Fantasy Baseball would be open for business on Fri Jan 31. Within that email, I clicked on a link that took me to the Andy Behrens article that says Thursday Jan 30. So, ..which is it? We shall see.

I am thinking those games will count in week 1. Seattle & Oakland opened the 2012 season early while playing a two-game series in Japan. Those games were considered as regular-season games and were counted in Yahoo's scoring week 1. With that said, perhaps Yahoo will offer the Commissioner's an option to start week 1 with the Sunday Night Baseball game on March 30th. Fantrax is offering an option to bypass the March 22-23 games in 2014.

Last year I rec'd my email notification ... 2-3 days after registration opened up. I've often wondered what would be the harm in Yahoo posting an announcement on the message boards in mid-January saying something like ...'2014 Yahoo Fantasy Baseball will be open for registration on or before Thursday Feb 6th'. After dealing with Yahoo Fantasy Baseball for many years, I've grown to know that something that simple is really too much to wish for, too much to ask for.
