Nichushkin - he's rated in the 300 range and was injured nearly all season. Unlike Ehlers, he'll play top 60 minutes and get PP time on a very dynamic team.

Given the injury risk on Letang, Hornqvist and to a certain degree Crosby. I would make the trade. In fantasy hockey you want consistency and dependibility. Giroux is a roto stud who doesn't miss games and Monahan is a climbing stud. Sure you may have a higher ceiling with Crosby and Letang, but not worth the risk IMO.

In a one year league, I would draft him as 60 pt (tops) player. If goals are critical in your scoring, I would consider his upside at 30 in his rookie year.

rotisserie - suggestions for scoring category

Pick scoring categories that aren't dependent on chance - categories such as game winning goals, short handed points, shutouts are generally not repeatable measures.

Newbie starting a league; Any advice on categories?

Someone else recently asked the same question. My advice...keep it simple and manageable for your first time. Target 12-14 GMs. More isn't necessarily merrier unless you have a group of people you know. Otherwise, expect people to drop before the season and lose interest immediately when they fall behind. Decide H2H or Roto. Likely you want to go with H2H as it's better for keeping people engaged. Pick scoring categories that aren't dependent on chance - categories such as game winning goals, short handed points, shutouts are generally not repeatable measures. Get the right balance between skater and goalie categories (8/4, 7/3 for example). Don't go overboard on active slots. Generally 2 or 3 RW, C, LW and 4 or 6 D is plenty to start. No more than 2 active G slots. Be active, be firm and be communicative as the commish and things will be fine. Finally, look at some of the better fantasy hockey sites, such as Dobber Hockey, for tips and advice on fantasy hockey in general (also a great area to recruit your GMs).
