    OK, he had a good day. Does that mean he is worth picking up as an end of bench player? 11 team, standard 5x5 roto. I would drop Josh Collmeter, Jason Hammel, Carlos Martinez or Wade Davis.

    Is Freeman for Cueto reasonable?

    Yup, they are all long gone. The best long-shot I see is Bradley who just got a roster spot in Arizona. Would it be worth dropping Baez for him?

  • I am in a 9 team NL only, standard 5x5 Roto league, non-keeper. My SP staff is horrible and I have good hitting and excess 1B (Freeman, Duda, Morse). One of the other players is very weak at 1B (Ryan Howard and Adam Lind). With the team below would you offer up Freddie Freeman for Johnny Cueto or should I try for Madison Bumgarner?

    C Mesoraco
    1B Freeman
    2B Gordon
    3B DMurphy (2B, 3B)
    SS OHerrera (2B, SS, CF)
    LF Harper (LF, CF, RF)
    CF McCutchen
    RF JHarrison (2B, 3B, LF, RF)
    Bench Duda (1B), Morse (1B, LF), Baez (2B, SS)-Haven't found anyone worth dropping Baez for yet.

    SP Bailey, Wacha, Cain, Garza, Collmenter
    RP Chapman, Jansen, Watson

    Best FA SPs are Minor, Cozart, Worley, Gee
    Best FA position players are Ethier, Owings, Jay

    Yes the pickings are slim. Would you try and trade Freeman for a quality pitcher or hold off and see how my bottom-feeder SP staff does? Thanks.

  • In an 11 team mixed Roto league I have Baez on my bench. Baez would not be a starter even if he was in the majors as Dozier and Harrison for 2B and I have Santana and Peralta for SS so Herrera offers an interesting flier for speed and flexibility having 2B, SS and eventually CF eligibility. Would you drop Baez for him? Thanks.

    Pick 2 of 4 to keep in Roto League

    Looking at my post above I was misleading on a minor point. My league is an 11 person league and we keep 8 players. I am going with Chapman and Harvey for sure. The last spot I am sleeping on (Kemp/Hamels/Hamilton). Thanks all.

    Pick 2 of 4 to keep in Roto League

    So of the 5 players in question for 3 spots (9 votes total for 3 answers) there are;

    1 vote for Hamilton, more a non-vote really as he was the one response that did not go outside the parameters of the question and he may very well agree to lose Hamilton if given the option.
    3 votes for Chapman
    2 Votes for Harvey
    2 votes for Hamels
    1 vote for Kemp

    I am actually quite surprised given the "Always keep batting" prevalent opinion on most forums. I am also surprised because many people do not like to keep closers. My leaning to keep Harvey and Hamels but I will have to seriously think about Chapman as the 3rd. Thanks all.

  • Standard 5x5 Roto, 8 player keeper league. I have chosen my top 6 keepers and want opinions on the last two from the 4 candidates.

    Four to Choose from;
    Cole Hamels SP-Steady quality K, ERA, WHIP, poor W SP.
    Matt Harvey SP-Unknown coming off injury, possibel innings limit issues.
    Aroldis Chapman RP-Great Ks/inning, ERA and WHIP, good Saves but low innings total limits value.
    Matt Kemp LF, CF, RF-Great 2nd half but artritic hip and playing in SD could be problems.

    Am keeping;
    Goldschmidt 1B
    Encarnacion 1B
    Ellsbury CF
    Springer CF, RF
    Hamilton CF
    Dozier 2B

    Hamilton is the controversial one here as he could easily steal 70 bases and bat .210 and I already have a good SB supply but he is my personal preference pick, I'm a Reds fan. Also locking up 11 points in SBs from day one does have an appeal.

    Thanks

    Keep Pitching or Hitting in Roto League?

    I was actually planning on trading Ellsbury as I think I can get better value for that keeper spot that way. I have little faith in Ellsbury this year. That is why I was going to keep Hamilton even though he is more risky in the short run.

  • I am in a standard 5x5 Roto keeper league where we keep 8 players and I have way too many people in the 40-60 rank range so I have to choose to go with pitchers or hitters for my last three. Most people say go with hitting but I really hesitate to do that.

    First 5 are Goldy, EE, Ellsbury, Springer and Billy Hamilton. OK Hamilton is a high-risk choice but I roll the dice sometimes.

    For my next three I have to choose from;

    Hitters; Kemp, Dozier, Bruce, Mesoraco, Pedroia

    Pitchers; Hamels, Harvey, Chapman, Teheran, Samardzija

    I am leaning towards ,Hamels, Harvey, and (Kemp or Dozier or Chapman).

    Any thoughts will be appreciated.

    Thanks.
