Who is your # 4 QB? Also...

My #4 QB this year will be Stafford. They have surrounded him with a boatload of weapons and he has the potential to be a top 2 fantasy QB in my opinion. I'm a Lions fan and I will tell you that Stafford is not the most consistent QB, he's gonna have his share of miss throws and interceptions but when your surrounded with the kind of offensive talent he has (Megatron, Tate, Ebron, Bush, Bell) it's pretty much impossible to not have a huge year statistically. Let's be honest when talking about QBs in fantasy, the weapons around them are as important as their actual skillset. Nobody is going to debate whether Stafford is a better QB then Brady but in my opinion theres a greater gap in their weapons then there is in their skillset. Especially with the injury history Gronk has had the last 2 years. That being said, I agree with gibbs that Brady will probably end up being a great value this year because of where you can get him as opposed to Stafford. there's a number of QBs who could have big bounce back years but I think the one who will be right there with Stafford is Matt Ryan. That offense is going to be healthy and once again when you have Julio and White as your top 2 recievers it's near impossible to not put up big numbers. Remember Ryan had good numbers last year with Harry Douglas as his number 1 for a good bulk of the season.
As far as the running backs go the top 2 are definitely McCoy and Charles, followed by AP at 3. My 4th RB is definitely Forte and then I feel like you can start to make a lot of arguments for different backs. Lacy, Foster, Ball, Murray, Martin, Bernard...I'd probably take Lacy after Forte since the Pack will score some points and they trust Lacy but after Forte I'd probably look at a different position and come back after with a different tier 2 RB. I expect Foster to bounce back nicely this year as I do Martin. Keep in mind Martin was ranked a top 3 RB last year. (don't remind me, I took him at 2 lol) he should be a great value this year

    QB: 4pt/TD vs 6pt/TD

    by Michael L Jul 17, 2014 7:31 AM

I have played with the same settings in my league for years, only difference being 1pt/25 passing yards. In years past I've usually waited on QB and fared fairly well. this year though I'm definitely hoping to get a top 5 QB. the way the league has gone so pass heavy I think it's beneficial for people in all leagues to consider grabbing the elite QB's and even more so with our leagues rewarding 6 pts per passing TD. I never go into a draft saying things like "I'm definitely taking a QB early" but this year as opposed to years past I'm not only interested in drafting a QB in the first 2 rounds, I'm now leaning that way. Be prepared if your league is anything like mine, QBs will go early and often. There's usually a run on them at some point. In my league which has 12 managers I'm pretty sure Manning, Brees and Rodgers won't make it out of the first round and if they do they'll be gone early 2nd. have a list of QB's you are comfortable with drafting and do not allow them to slip by you at the draft. Good luck.

    Who you taking first round?

QB's go very fast in my league. I can almost guarantee the big 3 go in the first round and rightfully so. not getting one of the big 3 is not the end of the world for me but every year I have a cut off point with QBs which who I feel comfortable with. this year believe it or not it's the top 5 ending with Stafford slightly ahead of Ryan. That basically means I'll be drafting a QB by the end of round 3 in my league if I want one of these guys. Sure there's going to end up being great value with a couple QBs late but good luck finding it. There's just a lot of question marks with other QBs that I'm not comfortable with...Cam has terrible weapons, Lucks number 1 WR is TY Hilton, Wilson is great but they love to pound the ball in Seattle, same thing in SF, RG3 looks great they say but after last year he's hard to trust, I think one QB who could end up giving the most value for owners is Romo. He has the weapons and always seems to finish with decent numbers.

that's exactly how I used to feel but lets be honest the game has changed and if your not willing to change with it you might find yourself losing games because of the lack of consistent QB play. In theory what you say sounds great but you cannot put a value on consistency. That's what the elite QB's give, their consistent week in and week out. The QB's in my league have even more value obviously scoring 6 pts per passing TD. Not to mention RB's carry a much higher injury risk. look I'm not dead set on any one position in the first round but what I am is much more open to drafting a QB in the first round which in years past I really wasn't.

  • Let me start off by saying I've always followed the "wait on QB" philosophy and it's usually worked very well. Except for last year when RG3 basically buried me. This year though I'm finding myself really wanting one of the elite QBs (manning, Brees, Rodgers) and at a minimum a top 5 which for me is (Ryan, Stafford) I think this year the only way I don't pull the trigger on a QB in the first round is if one of the following is available...Charles, McCoy, AP, Calvin. Of course if all 7 of those players are gone I'll probably go best available, Forte, Graham etc. I don't know where I'm drafting yet. One more thing I'd like to add is that my league is 6 pts per passing TD. So yah just wondering on others draft strategy going into drafts this year and why?

  • Hey guys I do have fractional points in my league for yards and that but my question is can you do it for field goals? for example if my kicker makes a 39 yard field goal he's awarded 3.9 points instead of 3. If so where can I switch it? I haven't seen it yet. Also where are these new stat categories of carries and targets at? Also haven't seen that yet.

    number of playoff teams???

    by Matt Jun 13, 2014 8:24 PM

Exactly virtual trophies mean nothing to any of us. This is a league that I've run with friends for ten plus years so we all know whats going on. Every year I'm very clear with any rule changes or anything else and this case would be no different. Couple questions...first where can I found "commissioner scheduling"? I looked quickly and didn't see the option for it. Second question, with selecting "no playoffs" does Yahoo still recognize weeks 14,15 and 16? those are the playoff weeks we have always gone with. Will league members see the matchups on yahoo like they would in normal weeks or would I just be saying Ok so the #2 plays the #7 and we just go off the scores. What I'm saying is people like to be able to click on matchup and see who their playing and the scores like they can during regular season play. Sorry for all the questions I just want to be informed as possible before making a decision. Thanks again.

this is interesting and something I may look into if my league mates or interested. My ideal playoff schedule would be 7 of the 14 teams making the playoffs with the last seed(#7 seed) being the team who had the most points scored in the regular season outside of the top 6 teams. Record would be irrelevant. My question is is this difficult to do?

Thanks for the very informative reply. With all do respect I don't really agree with your playoff format and heres why...winning consistently in fantasy football is a difficult thing to do and should be rewarded. This is the reason in my league we currently have 6 of 12 teams making the playoffs with the top 2 teams getting a bye. like I said in my original post I don't agree that the #1 seed should be forced to put their season on the line against a #6 seed who more then likely will have a losing record (even more so if 8 teams make it) Like you said anyone can win on any given week and I feel that the #1 seed consistently winning throughout the year earned the right to a bye and not to be forced to play a team with a losing record with their season on the line. Just my opinion. Again thanks for the information.

  • I'm currently running a league with 12 managers and we've always had 6 teams make the playoffs. This year we are considering moving to 14 teams. I'm wondering if It's possible to customize the number of teams that make the playoffs? I don't want 8 of 14 teams making it and especially don't think the #1 seed should be forced to put their season on the line against a #8 seed. So again is it possible to customize it on Yahoo or if anybody plays with 14 teams I'd be interested to hear how many teams you have make it. thanks...
