Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Last year I won my league despite a couple of guys being hoarders of the closer position, but I still ended up with 4 of them after a few FA pickups. This year, I only drafted two - Axford and Nathan - and Axford is about to be dropped for Masterson. That leaves me with only one RP, and only possible future closers remain on the wire (Marmol, for example).
Anyone ever successfully go through a season and just forget about the closer? I hate trading for them, but am contemplating not worrying about it until later in the season when maybe I can either play FA or make a trade with one of the closer hoarders. It's a H2H league, so the only major thing I'm losing out on is the saves category - I feel like I could pick up the Ks with an extra starter. Thoughts?
I hear ya with the closer thing - only issue is that I'd have to trade for a closer, and unless I'm getting a top guy back (and probably giving up too much), it seems like that position can change at the drop of a hat.
H2H 10 team league. These SP are available on the FA and I'm thinking of picking up one or two...Do you see anyone I can drop without hesitation to grab one of these guys and who is the best FA pick?
FA: Shelby Miller, Edwin Jackson, Mike Fiers, AJ Griffin.
C: Wilin Rosario
IF: B Butler, Ike Davis, D Espinosa, M Prado, E Aybar, E Longoria, I Kinsler,
OF: M Kemp, A Gordon, J Willingham, N Markakis, B Revere, T Hunter
P: Stras, Wainwright, Medlen, Lincecum, D Fister, H Bailey, A Ogando, J Garcia, Axford and J Nathan.
Very true regarding the talent that everyone in a 10 team league has. Fairly accurate with your guess: Kemp, Stras, Longoria, Kinsler, Wainwright, Butler, Medlen...
I feel the same about my SP pitching, and I'm not sure how I feel about trading for closers before the season actually starts. I think I need to focus on another solid SP and an OF.
Hey - drafted a few days ago with the 4th overall pick in a 10 team mixed H2H league. Any thoughts on my team, possible spots to look for improvement? I've received one trade offer thus far and it was giving my Espinosa and getting Alcides Escobar...although I think this is a bad deal for me. Note that this isn't my set lineup or anything.
C - Wilin Rosario
1 - Billy Butler
2 - Ian Kinsler
3 - Evan Longoria
SS - Martin Prado
OF - Matt Kemp, Alex Gordon, Josh Willingham
UTIL - Ike Davis
BN - Danny Espinosa, Nick Markakis, Ben Revere, Torii Hunter, Erick Aybar
P - Stephen Strasburg
Here's my RB and WR situation so you can see where he'd fit in. 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 Flex
RB: CJ2K, BJGE, Hillis, K Smith, Ryan Williams, R Jennings (who I'd drop)
WR: Nicks, Bowe, Moore, Heyward-Bey, Garcon
Right now I have CJ2K as my #1 and BJGE as #2, but he's playing Baltimore...so I sit him and start Kevin Williams instead? I'm using Rashad Jennings in my flex spot, and also have Hillis on the bench...thoughts?
I guess I would call it average. It has potential but 1) Will Cam put up big numbers again - his last 7 games all declined last year. 2) Can Austin stay healthy and how will Lloyd fit into NE offense? 3)Will AP stay healthy - if so, he can be a stud as we all know and S Jax is pretty solid. 4) Finley has potential to be a huge impact player if he removes his head from his #$%$
Like I said, I don't see any home run hitters - but there's potential there I'd say.
He's ranked 15th in ESPN...I don't think I could crack the top 10, so the others are: Jordy Nelson, Brandon Marshall (who I'm not a big fan of), Steve Smith, Julio Jones (who the owner would never trade), and Victor Cruz (and I've already got Nicks)...Or I just stand pat.
I have Konerko I'd like to get in the lineup today off the DL...I was leaning Minor but won't get his start tomorrow which i could use in h2h this week. And I'd be hoping Medlen keeps a spot.
