Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
I know, I winced as I picked him. I avoided him in my other drafts, so I said what the hell this time. If he can hit .275, score 80 runs and steal 80 bags, he's well worth it, cuz I think I've got enough power elsewhere.
I'd do the trade. Fister will do well in DC, and you need more speed. I'd try to package Kemp as well, I don't trust him at all. See what you can get for him.
I'm not really liking your hitting. Alvarez will give you HR's and not much else. Lawrie is mediocre, Lucroy is solid, Segura is good, Heyward is overrated, Trumbo is Alvarez but in the outfield, Harper clearly your best overall hitter. Craig is solid, but not elite. You will struggle with AVG...I'd try to tempt someone with Tanaka and get another good bat.
I like your 4 top SP's.
Thanks for taking the time for that, much appreciated. I agree I reached with Rios, but he has 25/50 potential. 1B and C were going fast, so my hand was forced somewhat by picking Ortiz and Rosario when I did. I'm hoping Salazar and Corbin rise to the occasion; if they do, my SP will hold it's own I think. In terms of power, I actually think this squad is set up fairly well. For HR's I think this is possible:
Rosario 30 (slated to play 1B when not catching)
Beltran 30 (HR-friendly division)
Cruz 30 (HR-friendly division)
If Lincecum and Haren can tighten up, I might have a shot....I hope!
Mixed bag, really. Nice players in Encarnacion and Wright, but they're getting on in age. Rosario is a great pick. Desmond too. Cutch, goes w/o saying. Good MI and CI picks. Crawford is a shadow of himself and in his 30's now. Not a good pick. You've got good young pitchers, but they aren't going to pay dividends this year, especially with Harvey out. 7/10
I feel like the rest of my hitters can absorb the loss of Desmond, to a degree. I'd definitely get more SB's with Gordon. But I'm really not sure. That's why I'm here : )
I have Aybar and a seemingly resurgent Dee Gordon #$%$ backups. I think I need another top SP. A guy in my league is weak at SS and has Chris Sale. This is my SP:
Should I dangle Desmond for more pitching?
The kid is quite possibly a once in a generation type of player. An across the board stud who is still only just a baby. You only trade him if the guy that wants him is a complete idiot who gives away 3 elite players who are not older than 27.
He's a good pick if you get at the end of your draft. 2 position eligibility is big, and he'll hit for AVG and score a few runs. Solid bench pick.
I wouldn't consider your pitching weak. You have 2 legit aces, and Lester will be very solid. Jimenez will get you K's, and his high ERA and WHIP will be offset by Wainy and Bum. Latos is a solid play as well. I'd stream Santana when he starts at pitchers parks only.
Your hitting is very solid, but you'll be forced to play Martin and Crisp more than you want to if you plan on winning SB.
Good team, but I reckon in a 10 team league, everyone else has a good team too, lol. Good luck.
Your corner IF's are major question marks. Hanley is too. Can they replicate past form? Montero doesn't excite me. I like Altuve, but only for SB and decent AVG. Your OF is better on paper. Excellent pitching. I rate you a 7.

I wouldn't expect big things from Profar or Machado this year. Good young SP's in Iwakuma and Miller, and Greinke and Hamels rounds out a strong starting staff. You need another closer, obviously.
7/10, pretty good team. You won't win the league if its roto, but you will have a contending team next year and beyond.
