Draft and Trade Talk Message Board
Im thinking Volquez out of these two guys, but if theyre your only options, you might be better off just streaming that last spot, depending on your league set-up of course.
10 team 2 Catcher h2h league:
I traded Michael Brantley, Yasiel Puig, Stephen Strasburg
I received Prince FIelder, Evan Gattis, Jake Odorizi, Danny Salazar
Im sad about losing Brantley, but my OF is strong and something needed to be done about my pitching: Stras and Bartolo were my top guys after Scherzer. And now I probably have the best C combo in the league with Gattis and Russell Martin. What do yall think? I may be regretting this trade come September, but I don't think i'd be in contention much longer without it.
Yeah these are both no-brainers. You'd be getting two top 20ish players and losing maybe one top 50 guy. You'd be getting a top 5 RP, OF, 2B and a starter with silly upside. For a tommy john in-waiting, a 36 year old, an over-the-hill pitcher on the worst team in baseball (who will probably be traded to the AL East slaughterhouse if at all) and, as mentioned, a guy who will be batting in front of his team's worst hitter and their pitcher nightly. Do em both now.
2 Catcher h2h deep roster 10 team OBP league:
A gets: Prince, Odorizi, Yan Gomes
B gets: Strasburg, Marcus Semien, Mike Zunino
team to lose Prince currently stacked on offense, woeful on pitching
team to lose Stras has Scherzer, Carasco, Hughes among other starters, needs power but not desperately
Fair trade? Which do you like?
deep 10 team h2h 2 catcher league (k/9 and bb/9 are pitching categories):
A Gives Kershaw
B Gives Prince Fielder, Gattis, and Odorrizi
A still has Scherzer, Carasco, Hughes if losing Kershaw. Russel Martin and Grandal are other Catchers
B still has Yan Gomes and Zunino at Catcher if losing Gattis.
What do you think? Could be a big one! Any input helps, thanks!
Free Agent Acquisition Budget: each team gets a finite amount of fantasy money to spend on free agent/waiver wire pick-ups for the whole season. It ensures that the same team can't get all the good free agents just because they're quickest to a computer or don't have a life. Plus a whole different element of strategy, like do you wait until the can't-miss-guy or take a bunch of chances on lower-risk possibilities? It makes streaming pitchers a somewhat less valuable strategy too.
