any roto keepers need another manager?

    by Lefty Apr 14, 2015 2:30 AM
Lefty Lefty Apr 14, 2015 8:10 AM Flag

I'm looking for roto only, sorry.

  • I'm looking for a roto keeper or dynasty to join. It can be existing (takeover) or a new league. I'd prefer scoring settings close to the yahoo default, but a few changes are ok.

Post your league settings and a few players if its a takeover team.

I'm a longtime player and commish a few of my own leagues. I always play out the season.

  • I want to join a keeper roto league, new or takeover, with somewhere between 5-10 keepers. Any league size of 10 or more. I'm dedicated and run multiple leagues every year. Don't get too crazy on the roster or scoring cats.

Prefer a league in pre-draft status this year, but its getting late so not a dealbreaker. Live drafts only though.

look at your draft results. it should show keepers and empty picks.

    rosters, league settings, scoring details...

All info that anyone who is serious about playing needs before expressing interest. Don't be lazy.

    Keepers not selected?

I run a dynasty with up to 23 keepers per team (200+ players) and had to add them all manually. I really wish there was an option to have the AI place them and then let me change what round they need to be drafted.

    Keeper Commishioners

Thanks for not answering the question.

I know what the declaration deadline is for. The keepers should be automatically placed on the teams after the deadline and then the commish move them to their appropriate draft position. The interface desperately needs an overhaul.

  • Why does yahoo make me approve my league's keepers and then not assign them to their teams? I have to manually place each keeper individually to every team. Did I do something wrong or is yahoo just lazy?

Which Cubbie(s) has the best value at their draft spot?

    by Jacob Mar 11, 2015 12:05 PM
Lefty Lefty Mar 13, 2015 9:41 AM Flag

Rizzo doesn't hold much ADP value at ~12th overall. You can take A Gonzo or Pujols in rounds 3-4 or LaRoche in like round 10 and get similar numbers.
Bryant is questionable at ~80th depending on when he gets called up. 2 weeks, a month? Who knows.
Castro is at a thin position, but he is an enigma himself. He doesnt hit for 20 hr power and doesnt have 20 sb potential like other ss do. And it depends where he bats; 2nd, 3rd, 6th or 7th.
Baez is a huge question mark. Will he hit 25+ hrs? Probably. Will he strike out 289+ times? Seems likely. Will he hit .235? Maybe worse. Could he be sent to AAA? There's a good chance. But he showed drastic improvement moving up each level after horrid starts. He could be a steal in a late round .265 80-35-80, or put up .215 50-15-50 and 330 k's.
Soler in the 6th round might be a little high for value. Khris Davis or Melky Cabrera in round ~17 have much better value.

I feel safest based on projected stats drafting Rizzo, but would definitely take Soler and Bryant given their potential. Baez I might avoid at all costs unless he falls to round 20. Castro, well, he's somewhere in the middle of the SS pack.

    Trade Kluber for Wainwright?

    by Bowser Mar 13, 2015 8:05 AM
Lefty Lefty Mar 13, 2015 9:15 AM Flag

Wainwright threw like 250ip last year and was at his worst at the end of the season. I thought I saw somewhere that he was having arm issues already this offseason and spring. And he's missing his opening day start.

  • 10 teams, h2h, 6x6 (BB + Holds)

Keep up to your entire team (23). Any non-keeper spots are redrafted in non-snaking reverse order of last years finish. This team will draft 1st. Draft is March 28th 4pm CDT. Keeper deadline a week before that.
We only use 1 UTIL, in favor of an extra bench. Most use that spot for a prospect.

    Roto SP theory

Wait 2 months until Rodon gets a starting gig. The Sox aren't going to have 3 lefties pitch in a row (4-Danks, 5-Rodon, 1-Sale). Quintana will be the #4 to break that up.

Advice for 8 team league - PLEASE ASSIST

    by Nick Mar 4, 2015 7:47 PM
Lefty Lefty Mar 5, 2015 9:50 AM Flag

I'll share my go-to small league settings

    2 C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, MI, CI, LF, CF, RF, OF, 2 UTIL, 2 SP, 4 RP, 3 P, 7 bench. Add Holds and either 2B or XBH
Make waiver claims FAAB with a budget of $1000. That uses 240 players just like a 10 team league would (with 10 players on the DL).
    -----------------
But if you could drop the league to 6 teams I have an awesome league type. Play divisions. You will need to make sure people don't cheat by using ineligible players though. Each manager drafts a division. Teams can use anyone in their division to build his team. If someone gets traded out of the division in real life, he's forced to drop that guy from his team
Use standard settings with 2 starters at each position, 2 UTIL, 4 SP, 4 RP. Benches don't matter. No waivers.
You'd have to do an offline draft and enter rosters for everyone but that's pretty easy. For a draft order, draw numbers out of a hat at work.
(This also works for football, 8 teams.)

    Roto SP theory

Quintana too. I think he had the most games exited with a lead and ended with a ND for the last 2 seasons. His 10-11 wins could very easily have been 16-17 if the Sox bullpen didn't suck. 15 wins is likely this year. He's probably the best #4 in the league this year other than whoever the Nats use, Fister, maybe.

rounds 5-6-7 aren't exactly "later" rounds. I've done a bunch of mocks and havent taken a SP until the 11th or 12th round and the projected stats had me finishing top 3. I try to target Lynn. Shoemaker, Lackey, Verlander (I think he's going to be better), Wheeler, Fiers, Danny Duffy, Wade Davis, Andrew Miller. Yeah the last 2 arent SP but they can combine for 11 wins and 150 Ks with a 2.00/0.90 and maybe 5-10 saves. Wheeler is usually picked a few rounds before I expect so I miss him.

Sometimes I sneak a Cueto in around the 5th round but mostly I wait until round 10 before thinking about SP.

    My first ever Auction Draft

    by Ryan L Mar 4, 2015 7:38 AM
Lefty Lefty Mar 5, 2015 7:42 AM Flag

This looks like all the mocks I did for this type. Waited around to draft a bunch of $15-20 guys and never really put together a decent team. Here is my actual auction draft that I did an completely ignored my mocks.

    $3 C - Rosario
    $8 1B - LaRoche
    $7 2B - Walker
    $19 3B - Arenado
    $2 SS - Santana
    $65 OF - Trout
    $45 OF - McCutchen
    $16 OF - Soler
    $7 UTIL - Bryant
    $3 UTIL - Morneau
    $2 bn - Khris Davis
    $1 bn - Eaton
    $2 bn - Pederson
    $42 SP - Kershaw
    $19 SP -Cueto
    $2 RP - Street
    $1 RP - Rondon
    $5 SP - Lynn
    $3 SP - Quintana
    $2 RP - Britton
    $2 SP - Shoemaker
    $2 SP - Fiers
    $2 RP - Clippard

I had planned on spending $200 on Trout, Cutch, and Kershaw and then taking $1-2 guys the rest of the way. I must have scared them a bit opening at $65 for Trout and then jumping on Cutch and Kershaw right away. But it let me grab Cueto and Arenado instead of like Verlander and Bogaerts. I have a LOT of young guys which scares me a little but I'm pretty happy with my first auction draft. I might do another this year. I kinda like this style.
